Backseat removal?

Does anyone have information on how to remove the backseat from the 997? I searched the forums but didn't come up with anything.

I don't use the backseat for anything but storage, and it would be nice to take them out completely to fit my golf clubs safely so the leather doesn't get messed up at all.

Anyone have any pointers? Is this easy to do or should I pay the dealer to do it for me?

The rear seat bottoms are just velcroed in. You can pull the bottoms right out.
For the backs, see this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...hey-heavy.html
especially on the 2nd page for the pics.

Very easy project to do, back seats are useless in these cars IMO, so I took mine out last year.

I'm thinking I'd like to do this too. I never use those back seats and half the time I leave them folded down just to avoid noise issues back there with something squeaking when they are up.

I suppose we could just pop them back in when it comes time to trade in. I could even rationalize breaking even on weight by getting PSE instead of after market muffler by removing the rear seats.

I searched this recently and anyone have any ideas on a storage bench or at least a "flat" rack or something to put back there once the seats were removed.

I took my seat backs out for the weight savings and found it was easier to put my clubs in with them in. But they are out and not going back in until I sell it.

Funny - I was thinking the same thing when I took a moment to examine things a bit prior to the possible removal this weekend. How did you put them in before removing the seats? Just lay them across when the seats were folded down?

Now you guys have me wondering if I should do this before I take the car on the track over Memorial Day weekend.

As for the golf clubs, I just put them on the passenger seat with the seat reclined all the way and a towel on the seat. Works just fine, but could be a little trickey if you have a passanger
