997 Turbo rim weight?

In my "PDK cost me a TON of money" thread, a forum member pointed out as part of the discussion that the 19" 997 Turbo rims on my recently acquired '07 C2S are lightweight.

Does anyone have a spread sheet or a copy and past for the various weights of the 997 rim options?

I'm mainly curious how the weight of the Turbos compares to the standard Lobster Claw rims as well as how they compare to the weight of the 997.2 Carrera S II rims.....which I"m considering swapping out for if not the HRE P40's.

Thanks!!

Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. So the Turbo wheels are actually heavier than the standard Carrera S rims.......hmm.....

I understand that for the fronts since they are wider, but surprised that the rears are heavier as well.

I guess I assumed since the Turbo wheels were forged that made them lighter. Is the advantage of forged strength rather than weight savings?

If you want light weight and forged probably have to go aftermarket - check out the GP7 listed in the right banner and many of the Champion wheels are forged and light weight.

Interesting read.......lots of opinions.....surprise, surprise.

I think you're right though....ultimately the HRE P40's are in this car's future. Now to decide b/w silver or brushed..........

You can get them also in Gun Metal too; I'm considering Gun Metal P40s. There is a promotion for wheel swap. I believe they give your $1000 for trade upgrades for the HRE P40s.

According to this... the Turbo rears are 2 oz heavier. The front turbos are 20 oz heavier because they are larger. I honestly thought the Turbo wheels were lighter.

An honest and understandable mistake given the Turbos are forged.

Amazing that Porsche allowed heavier wheels on the GT3 than on other 997 variants.

The extra width has something to do with it (8.5 and 12) - but I agree, heavy when compared to the aftermarket forged wheels available.
