Exhaust/power kit: FVD = SpeedArt = TechArt?

Hi

New to the forum and realtively new owner of a -09 997 S.
Initially I was looking for a better sounding exhaust but got interested in complete packages offered by various tuners claiming up to 35 bhp increase...
Anyone that owns such a setup that could comment? Also, I wonder if these increases have been independantly verified...

The thing is, by looking at pictures it seems like many of the companies provides more or less the very same system, re-badged of course. One example being the complete system with new headers, cat's and mufflers with sound switches, as provided by:

FVD:
http://shop.fvd.de/de/en/Porsche-0/9...LBF-FT%29.html

SpeedArt (page 61 onwards):
http://www.speedart-tuning.de/2008/f...nglish_WEB.pdf

TechArt:
http://www.techart.de/no_cache/en/ne...ash=a54a0b71b3

The exhaust in these examples are obviosly too similiar for not being produced by the same (sub-)contractor.

What do you think? Worth it or not?

Did you see my post?

Should be helpful to you.

Rhonda at FVD is, I think, unanimously regarded are offering incredible service and assistance.

Given a "do-over", I would without a doubt order the FVD complete system again.

I believe yrralis has the FVD as well and is very happy with it. He might jump in and confirm this.

Their systems are built by M&M in Germany

The 997.2 engine upgrades are relatively new and your post indicates that you have only recently purchased the car and, furthermore, are unsure as what to do. Why not wait a while? Let the marketplace settle and evaluate all of the available systems. Get used to the car.

A full exhaust system, intake and programming will set you back $8000++(US). With a normally aspirated motor, the power gains are not usually very cost-effective.

Don't believe everything that manufacturers/dealers claim and, most importantly, please don't accept all of the opinions you see posted on the various forums as god given truth. Good luck and welcome to the Porsche community.

I also have the FVD and very much enjoyed reading Sayboy's write up . Since I don't post on youtube I have sent a few sound clips to a few regulars who asked .

Maybe I ought to share a bit on my exhaust. When I first began shopping I did have a few ideas . I wanted my 997S to have improved low end grunt and an exhaust note which was loud enough to have appeal but not so loud to wake up neighbors or spark negative attention in an indoor office parking lot . In short the purpose of my car is street use and i share it with my girlfriend . Unlike my 700 Turbo with a race exhaust I wanted civilized power . My Turbo is more for rare drives and a future hope to do one mile track events . I thus opted for a 95 decibel level exhaust although the sound version has a terrific note too.

FVD really delivered . Their commitment to customer service and accuracy does not end until you are a happy with the product. When you look at the stock exhaust and then view the FVD it's real easy to see the build quality in their product . Since it's a complete system comparing them side by side it's really a sight.

Driving is amazing . Low end power , high end power , no drone at all . That's pretty much what Sayboy has stated in his posts but my experience has been equally as fullfilling .
