Paint my calipers? Black?

I have the stock C2 calipers (steel color) and would like to get them powder coated for a more finished look.

Does anyone have pictures of their calipers painted black?

Also, I've never done a project like this before...should I do it myself or take it to the pros?

Thanks.

Well, they start out flat black and turn kinda gray over time. I have a Carrera also and the quality of the finish sucks.

That seems about right. It looks like they were once painted black, but are now faded.

If anyone has pictures of the calipers powder coated black, please post them.

Also, does anyone know a reputable powder coating shop in NC?

I'm in the same boat, my calipers have faded quite badly and I'd like some input in regards to this as well.

Thanks.

I just did it over the weekend using G2 paint
http://www.g2usa.com/

and like results a lot. very easy thing to do, paint has perfect glossy finish, as it dried up it became very even. So, I bet you can do it. See G2 web site for your color choice, paint itself is sold pretty much everywhere, on ebay, etc. Decals with 'porsche' word are also on ebay, or else. up to you.

I did paint `em red. It is not bright red, more like burgundy, but still looks quite nice, much better than old shaded grey it was.

Did you put the Porsche decals back on?
If so, did you clear coat over them?

Ditto...did several Porsches over the years with superior results. Also, you can order the PORSCHE decals and it'll look flawless

For the folks that used G2, was it difficult applying the paint with a brush? Did the paint apply evenly?

most difficult part of this painting process is to lift car on 4 stands.

I used brush, paint applies pretty evenly - you can see stripes from brush when paint is just applied but in several minutes it evens up nicely. one word of advice - do not put way too much paint on second coating to avoid paint drops from forming. not if you could see them afterwards anyway. And do not save that brake cleaner - apply a lot of it, rub caliper with cloth, then spray it over again - it will ensure perfect paint contact with caliper surface.

I did 2 coats, seemed to work fine. make sure you can leave car on stands for 4-6 hours after you`ll be done with painting, or preferably overnight as it takes significantly longer for paint to dry up when temperatures are lower 56 degrees.
