Who's tracked a PDK?

Curious to get opinions of those who have tracked a stock 997.2 S (2or4)PDK?

Is it still as fun as tracking a 6 speed?

I drove one yesterday again & was impressed w/ sport mode.

Seems like you can concentrate more on steering.

Especially with the new TT paddle steering wheel now available.

Pros & cons?

Thanks.

Cant compare it to a 6 speed since i didnt try one. But the PDK in sport plus mode is truly amazing on the track...even in auto mode! Its almost as if it reads your mind, Downshifts at the right moment and always keeps you in the power band. For me, i prefer to keep it in manual sport plus mode...more fun even though the auto sport plus mode does a perfect job on the track.

I've driven a 6spd man & PDK S at the Porsche driving school on the track and it's great, just as fast as a 6spd only bad thing is sometimes you do end up hitting the down shift button on accident. It is easier to drive by just hitting a button and not worrying about heel and toe. I would get one.. my .02

Thanks for the replies.

How was that school? Seems like it wb a blast.

If you had the new paddles, you probably wouldn't have had that button issue, right?

I have 1.5 years with PDK and around 25 track days with PDK. Nothing shifts faster...nothing! PDK was 1st designed as a racing transmission and is considered a dual clutch sequintial that happens to have an automatic mode. PDK is nothing like the automactics you have driven before though.

I just swaped out the standard PDK wheel for the paddle shift wheel and I like it much better since now there is no way for the palm of my hand by my thumb to accidently upshift the PDK.

I also drove it during the masters class at porsche class. Was there with a buddy and we were both really excited about driving the pdk.

while it's certainly faster and lets you concentrate on your line and driving instead of H&T'ng we both were a bit underwhelmed. Not at the result - it does exactly what it's intended to do, but it just left us a little cold.

Now, i know the cars at PSDS do NOT have sport mode engaged so not sure how different that is, but we thought it was almost too good - a bit boring.

I noticed on the test drive thinking I would probably just drive around sport mode all the time on street and that auto was pretty much useless anyway
