Finally pics of my 1 week old 07' 911 C4S with Pioneer Avic-Z110BT Lots of Pics!
By bracket do you mean the plastic bezel trim piece that surrounds the head unit? If so, it came from a great guy and great eBay seller named Loi at Euromotorsports (eBay name). You can buy directly from him though, you dont need to go through eBay.
I too purchased this bezel from him. Great product, great guy and amazing customer service. Contact me if you'd like more info.

I did have Nav but it was pretty horrible when i played around with it.
It did not have ipod integration which if i'm not mistaken i could have added with the Dension Ice Link and it didn't have Bluetooth.
Honestly the main reason i changed my head unit was to have a great nav, ipod, bluetooth experience as well as all the extra tech goodies that come with it.
And after hearing that it improved the sound as well it was a no brainer.
Sound wasn't very good to begin with but now it's slightly better i would say. I'm coming from a 2010 S5 that had the Bang & Olufsen sound system which was one amazing sound system...
All in all i'm very happy that i did this and wouldn't even hesitate about doing it again.
Thanks for the compliments

How's the "boot up" on your system? I have a 997.2 w PCM3.0, Nav, BT etc. and I really like it. In my other car I have a Pioneer AVIC and its nice but takes 1-2 minutes to boot up. Plus sometimes it gets "stuck" for 30 seconds when I hang up a call. Nice unit otherwise. But PCM is instantly on and I havent had any issues in 7 months. The touch screen in PCM 3 is awesome and I wouldnt replace it.
The units we have been talking about on this thread are the older PCM 2.1. Not the newer touchscreen models. I wouldnt expect anyone to replace the PCM 3.0 with an aftermarket head unit. I tried one out in a 2009 Cayman (and now Im glad I bought my 2007 911) and it worked well. But, its still not as slick as an aftermarket unit.
If you are speaking of the PCM 3.0 on the 997.2, I dont think anyone has these answers because I dont think anyone would pull out the PCM 3.0 (which offers all the features of an aftermarket head unit) and exchange it for anything else.
Make sense?
As for the PCM 2.1, all I lost were a few trip computer functions, the rest was maintained through the digital readout in the dash. I also believe that you retain the stopwatch feature in the digital display if you have Sports Chrono (my car doesn't have Sports Chrono).
Good luck,
Steve
Actually, my 2007 C2S does have those features. I know, because on the drive home, the DRL were on the whole time, which I found annoying! I had to figure out how to turn them off, which I did through PCM. My climate control memory works through there as well.
I have Sports Chrono, so maybe those options are included with that?
Thanks for the reply... I would love to improve the audio quality in this machine.

As for ONLY upgrading the sound quality, you can do a bit of that by replacing the amp and speakers (if you dont have Bose).
There are fiber optics interfaces that are made for the PCM 2.1 with Bose, but they are really expensive ($650.00) and then you are still left with replacing amps and speakers...
Better to just replace the head unit altogether. You will have much better results, sound wise, screen wise (touchscreen) and added ipod, XM, BlueTooth,Navigation, etc...
Good luck!
Steve
PS: I didnt have a clue that the PCM with Sports Chrono did that much. On my non SC model, it did very little beyond playing AM-FM-CD's and a few trip computer functions. And, it did all that pretty poorly.
Thanks for the responses!
Regarding the "boot up" taking time issue... this might help if you have an iPod connected. At least this is the case with my 700BT - which is an earlier model. In the settings, choose so that it updates the library manually and not automatically. If you are like me and don't update your iPod very often, then you can update the library manually only after you sync the iPod with your computer. Otherwise it tries to finds updates every time and going through gigs of data takes little bit time.
Very interesting and informative posts here.
I am a new P-car owner . . . . and I am researching/debating a new head unit that will have navigation, BT, and iPod controls. I have Sport Chrono package, and don't want to lose any of the functionality. I also have the Bose sound system.
Lots of research for me to do. But thanks for the info. AND . . . the INSTALL LOOKS FANTASTIC!!!!! Congrats.
