Stuffed Bose Subwoofer

My wife donated this pillow to be sacrificed for the mod. Very easy to do. Removed port to stuff box pretty full then re-installed. Sounds real nice, a noticeable improvement but the bass had to be adjusted; turned it up a bit because it was tighter but quieter. Great info on this board and planet9 about the install.

How did the sound change? Tighter?

Usually one stuffs boxes to emulate a larger volume enclosure.

Hmmm, interesting. Thanks for sharing. More details or a link please.

Anyone else try this yet and what are your perceptions?

The Bose box does get pretty boomy especially top down at hwy speeds.

Thanks!

How much does the pillow weigh? And what is the net weight gain after the lost bass? Does anyone know if Porsche makes a pillow?

Just a quick follow up here, I took it a step further. Picked up the smallest bag of poly-fil at JoAnn Fabrics for $2.99 (still have 3/4 of the bag left too...) - no it's not N-spec

Anyhow, instead of trying stuff the filler in thru the port, just unscrew the 6 (IIRC) torx screws holding the driver and grill in/onto the bottom of the box. No need to disco the wires to the driver, just lift it out of the enclosure and place to the side. Then using your hands, stuff the poly-fil in from here into all the corners, crevices and open space in the box. Firmly but loose I think is the technical measurement . Then just replace the driver, grill and 6 torx screws into the enclosure and reinstall the enclosure back into vehicle.

Very noticeable difference in the subs response - a little deeper but much tighter eliminating a lot of the boomy-ness especially top down.

Excellent mod for $2.99 and 15 min.

Thanks again Gator Skin for posting and the link

Have done the same - followed the mod instructions on the planet-9.

Works amazing well - bass is MUCH tighter and "punchier" especially in my cab.

Thanks for highlighting this one.
