I stupidly didn't take my battery to Sears, they told me it was XYZ model, and I took it home and... it was too big. So I brought it back and told them that the info I had initially (which I got off of this forum) was correct and they needed to give me what I had initially asked for.

Good luck. It's really an easy replace and install. If you know how to loosen a bolt and then tighten it, you can do it.
H7 (also know as 94R) is exactly the same dimensions as OEM. H6 is a little shorter and H8 is a little longer, both of which require you to use a different hole for the hold down clamp. Some early model battery trays only have the OEM hole threaded. Newer models (not sure when the switch occurred) have the other holes threaded. OP can Google "h7/94r" and see some other battery providers.

Interstate.

Please, whatever you do - do not get ripped off and go with the terrible Porsche battery. Not only is it overpriced, it's terrible. Trust me.

Usually, all the error codes and stuff go away after you drive around for a couple of minutes.

Glad you got it sorted. PCM was probably on when you shutdown before battery change and have been affected by a surge when new battery came online.

Yes, I hook it up to a batter maintainer when I know I will not be driving it for over a week.

After connecting the battery. the following work, for example, must be performed before starting to drive the vehicle:

Initializing the steering-angle sensor
The steering angle sensor must be re-initialized. To do this, move the steering at least 20" in a single movement both to the left and right with the engine running.

Then drive the vehicle in a straight line until the PSM warning light goes out. The steering angle sensor segment is recognized again in this process.

Tire pressure monitoring
After completing the required work, drive the vehicle until the tire pressure values are displayed in the instrument cluster.

Teaching power windows
With the vehicle doors closed, teach each of the power windows as follows:
-Actuate the rocker switch to "Close" and fully close the window once.
-Actuate the rocker switch to "Close" again. The upper end position is now stored.
-Actuate the rocker switch to "Open"and fully lower the window once.
-Actuate the rocker switch to "Open" again. The lower end position is now stored.
Thank you DS997C2S for providing exact directions (post #54) on how to reset systems after battery replacement. I replaced my C2S battery with H7 battery from Walmart. Perfect fit.

Your directions worked perfectly!

Replaced Battery in a 997.1 GT3

I have a 997.1 GT3 and I already had the original GT3 (Moll 80-Ah) battery replaced twice. Not too bad for 9 years. That being said, Moll is a very high maintenance battery. During these 9 years, it's always being hooked up to a Porsche battery maintainer (PBM) and I had to check the acid fluid level on a regular basis. It's time to replace the battery again and I got tired with the maintenance so I wanted an AGM. I have checked other brands such as Odyssey, Bosch, Kinetik, XS Power, Exide and more. Only Banner & Exide offer 80-Ah as recommended by GT3s. Since SunCoast offers Porsche OEM Banner 80-Ah at a great price, I went with them. They shipped it fast and well packaged in a box. Installation's a simple DIY and took only 10 min. Like others mentioned before, the 'venting hole' was on the other side or on the negative side and the venting tube was too short to reach it. Since AGM batteries are sealed and no venting's required, I did not hook up the venting tube and so far no problem at all. I still hook it up to PBM nightly with no charging or compatibility issues. A fully charged battery is always a happy battery. I highly recommend getting both the Banner VRLA & a PBM as this combo will last this battery for long time.

I also had to use Durametric to clear some codes as well as air bag light after new battery.
