997 battery replacement recommendation
As usual this forum proved invaluable. Went to start my (less than 1 week old - new to me) 911 last night and the dashboard lit up: PSM, ABS, etc… After a slight freak out and several google searches, I self diagnosed the battery was low. Ended up replacing with a Bosch 49-850B from Pep Boys (after a jump). In and out in only 15 minutes and only cost $135.00. I'm sure I could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere but not having to lift a finger has value in my life!
Thanks for all the continued great advice!

Ordered a Bosch Platinum AGM from Pep Boys, size H7/L7/94R from Pep Boys. The original Moll is only 2 and 1/2 years old but shows only 12.07 volts. The 2012 911S only had 4500 miles on it after more than 2 years. The Bosch net cost after two $25 online discounts and returning the old Moll, ($15 core), will be $154 delivered to my front door. Three year free replacement. Seemed like a heckuva deal to me.

get the best most expensive battery you can find.
I got mine at Pepboys it was the BOSCH brand and cost over $200
the dealership replaced my battery with an Interstate battery.. which was a pile of CRAP. my car cranked weak after only one month of use, and then it cranked like **** the rest of the time.
Never trust the dealership for your battery .
I do ALL my maintenance at the dealership, but from now I am going to be very wary of what parts they actually use on my car. I thought it would be some kind of Porsche approved battery.. NO. It was the cheapest thing you can find.

Just ordered the same BOSCH Platinum AGM battery H7/L4/94R for my '10 4S. $150 plus tax delivered to my door. Couldn't pass it up at that price for an AGM. The Moll is over four years old now. Even though it has been on the Ctek since I bought the car, before I bought it the car was in the dealer showroom for a while and had to be jumped each time I went to look at it. It is time to make a move......
^ same here....Autozone Duralast H7 AGM....just replaced mine regardless if the original Moll was still ok. easy peasy, fit perfectly, felt less heavy as well.

I assume it's this one? http://www.walmart.com/ip/EverStart-...ttery/20531542
It's $147 now, my 997 is slow to start in the morning, looks like I will have to buy one soon.

Good to know, thanks!
just called my dealer about it.
if under warranty, buy the Porsche battery. otherwise they can void warranty if you have issues with stuff.
not under warranty answer was: as long as you put a battery with the same specs, you are good. 12 volt is 12 volt...

And easy to not verify its there. The battery I had purchased had that bit already pulled off.
