My Dealer recommended an Interstate Battery and even gave me the correct number. Yours should do the same. The Interstate worked very well.

 

My battery just died on me. It was a factory battery from the dealer replaced 1.5 years ago. Dealer states they cannot replace battery under warranty since I drove less than 6000 miles per year???

 

Unfortunately that's what the warranty book says - check it out. Some dealers are more accomodating than others and will make a goodwill exchange. Walmart MAXX 94R good alternative, inexpensive, exact fit and better warranty than Porsche - at least there's no 6,000 mile/year requirement.

 

+1 on Walmart MAXX 94R Battery. I replaced my Porsche OEM batt in February of this year (2011) and has worked out great!

 

I bought a small floating charger at Home Depot (Black Decker $20) and installed an additional plug in the trunk. This way I do not have to remove the battery panel each time. Very convenient and quickly installed.

I just replaced mine and used the walmart MAXX-94r also. Took about 10 min total. Perfect fit and don't forget to plug the vent you are not using. The new battery has a red cover over the positive and has a vent plug on it that you just pull off and use.
Dealer wanted $365, I did it for less than $100 with a far superior battery with a good warranty than does not care about milage.

Resurrecting this thread to say thanks for the good advice-- was starting to have cranking problems and replaced my original battery with the Wal Mart MAXX 94R. Considering I have a 2005 with 72K miles and that was my original battery that came out, I guess it was a pretty good one! So, anyhow the MAXX 94R was a great choice with an easy install! Battery price was $109.

 

Just put a Braille battery in mine. Huge difference. Amazon has them a little cheaper than their site. 249 but well worth the $$$$.

The Braille Lithium is expensive. I went with the Braile Racing Endurance Series. ugh cheaper at 249.

They weigh less.

 

Cold cranking amps are 1100 vs. 800. Non-maintenance. Direct fit. Porsche Park Place Dallas is recommending them instead of Porsche direct battery as is Suncoast Porsche. My car sits for longer periods, no issues with starts after longer periods. Hope this helps.
