An odd experience dealing with FVD.US in Florida.
An odd experience dealing with FVD.US in Florida.
In early February, I ordered a Header-Cat-System through Rhonda, FVD.US in Florida. These performance parts are for my 2011 911S.
I e-mailed Rhonda about this confusion. And this is what she replied:
1.) We didn't charge you for that amount; 2.) We may call your bank.
My argument is that I was not told (or warned) while placing my order. Or I should be smart enough to understand there is a chance of paying an additional bank fee.
Your thoughts???
Later on my credit card statement shows up an "International Transaction Fee" of $154. Although I called the 1-800 number and placed an order to the Florida based FVD company at the first place, somehow the FVD in Germany made the charge to my VISA card and triggered the unexpected bank fee.

I think they forwarded your order to Germany(?) and the company there made the charge, not Fl.
Since you orderedd from them in Fl, they should have made the transaction themselves not let the company in Germany do the transaction, you shouldd not pay that

I did call my bank and was told that the purchase charge was made from overseas. So I have to pay the "International Transaction Fee". And Fvd.US said that they didn't charge me for the above said "fee"(of course not, but...). I wish FVD.US could have told me when I was placing the order.
I agree with the poster above
just have your bank charge it back. I actually always use my CC when doing things like this. It sounds like you used your debit card. I would think the company would just refund you 154 bucks, as opposed to upset a customer and get the negative press its getting on the net right now. If they had done that in the first place we would be talking about how good it sounds and not about what is a very tiny amount of money in the grand scheme of thing for a international company.

). I'm still waiting for a response from FVD on this one ... but if Germany (presumably as global HQ) is applying "spurious" international charges and there are problems reclaiming it, it doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence. I'll keep an eye on this space
I have used my Chase Mastercard to buy from FVD and I wasn't charged with any international transaction fee but when I tried using my Visa card to purchase Total 911 from the UK, I did receive a fee. So it may be dependent on your credit card company how they handle international transactions.

All of my parts on both of my cars are ordered by the shop which installs them. Even though my cars consist of parts by multiple site sponsors they are all ordered and delivered to the same shop . I discuss pricing and pay them . I simply don't want to deal with the grunt work to modify my cars . I just want to know when I am to deliver my car and receive a loaner car until my car is completed.
FVD has been outstanding with customer service . They answered all my questions and followed up to see that I have been happy with my car's final result. In fact yours is the first post anywhere that I have read where anyone voiced an issue. I do feel it is simple enough to resolve between you/them/bank.
Good luck .

1.) I want to know the majority's opinions in terms of the dispute of Bank fee.
2.) Let the board members be aware of the probable bank fee, if any order is placed and involved with overseas companies. See tourbillon001's post as an example.
Rhonda from FVD.US did offer me a pleasant service. After had listened what I was looking for, she instantly knew what kind setup is the best to fulfill my needs, and my decision was easy to make.
I don't believe FVD intentionally caused this issue. Anyway, the total purchase price is around $4600.00, the bank fee is just a fraction of that. BTW, I did call State Farm Bank, VISA again, they credited 40 bucks to my account. I'm happy and shall use it to fill in half tank of gas for my car.
I will post the result after the installation of Header-Cats-System. I suppose that's what we, the car nuts, should be focused to.
