LN Engineering oil filter: Any feedbacks?

Folks,

I was considering the installation of a LN Engineering oil filter to replace the plastic canister and paper filter on my 997.1 C4S. Not that there is anything bad about the Porsche implementation (their records prove it very well), but having a filter that actually cleans the entire flow of the oil appeals to me rather than using a paper filter that will let some oil bypass.

The LN Engineering filter is currently out of stock, but I was wondering if some members of that forum have tried it and what they think about it.

http://www.lnengineering.com/store/c...man-p-125.html

Thanks
Yves

L & N oil filter adapter

I have it in both of my 2008 Porsche's. Just the fact that it allows for access to the much better oil filtration options out there is all I needed to make the modification.

Just one "issue" sometimes: the spin on oil filter has more hold on the adapter than the adapter to the engine block, which spins the adapter off with the filter. No big deal.

I have been using the K & N oil filters which offer the desirable features provided by the most commonly available top quality oil filters, plus the ability to torque the filter to the proper (18 ft lbs) setting via a 1" size hex nut built in to the end of the filter case. There is a hole through the hex for safety wiring, which I do for peace of mind.

Hey Yves, no issues thus far with my LN Engineering adapter, all good here. Here is the link to a detailed discussion of the kit:

i thought LN engineering makes the filter adaptor.. not the actual filter.

my understanding was that the LN Engineering filter adaptor basically allows for wider variety of high quality filters to be used and makes oil change easier.

http://www.lnengineering.com/spinonfilteradapter.html

the filter that comes with the kit was Napa gold, i believe.

i also have the magnetic drain plug since i like the idea of any metal contaminants being reduced..

thx again JEllis ! =)

Guys,

Thanks for the quick and enthusiastic responses. It looks like this may be a good option to consider, mostly for the bigger choice of high quality filters.

In fact my car is for sale and the adapter is off of my car. If you want to buy a slightly used adapter PM me.

Jason,

I am too much of a rooky on this forum to be able to PM anyone.

Why don't you PM me, and make me an offer?

Thanks
Yves

Just placed my order yesterday for the "kit" and looks like ETA for shipping is in May! Will have to go on for the next oil change as I need to change my oil this week.

Thanks for posting this, very helpful!

I recently bought one as well and will install aty next oil change. What are your/everyone's thoughts on putting a little "locktite" (low/med grade) on adapter threads to mitigate this issue?

I would try it first to see if you have the same issue.
