I am quite a humble guy,
but i hate it when i meet people, who will probably never buy a nice car in their entire life, they look at your car and their question is, "WHY DIDN'T YOU BUY A TURBO?"



I wanna tell them, that sometimes ignorance is bliss, but not in this case.

It's interesting that it bugs you so much. I think it's a fairly logical question, especailly for people who don't know cars. Most of these people assume it's all about more power. They know the 911 turbo is a beast, so they assume you'd want it.
But the answers are pretty easy for me:
1. I don't need all that power in a Cab that will never see the track.
2. I Like the feel of RWD compared to 4WD.
3. The Turbo costs a s**tload compared to a non-turbo.
I find people are pretty satisfied by these answers.

FIL: Looks up in amazement' "Turbo?" (in perfect English)
Wife: No, regular Carrera
FIL: Humph. (rolls eyes) goes back to feeding dogs.

I had people asked me the same question. I simply answered "turbo is too rich for my blood and way beyond my budget". Or "dude, I am only a dentist". I am never offended by the question because I am still previlage enough to own a Porsche.

Why does the question bother you? Is your goal to impress people? With due respect, sounds you're feeling insecure for some reason. If so, you need to figure out why and get past it.

I can tell you why I didn't get the turbo: too much money, turbo lag is annoying, too much power for my current skill level, and I prefer RWD. Maybe one day I'll get a turbo, or more likely something like the GT3. But happy with my lowly S cab for now.

 

Personally (and this is just me so don't get all worked up folks) but I don't like the body work on the Turbos. The power yes, but cosmetics, no.

I really like the look of a nice clean Porsche. Sometime the Turbo looks "hoakey". Hard to explain, but I don't like the side vents and all that. I would love the motor in a c2s though.

I once told someone in a parking lot that my RX7 was a V4 because I got sick of explaining what a rotary motor was.

 

Shows how subjective these things are: my wife and I both prefer the look of the turbo, even though we got an S.

 

Me too. Why I also like the retractable spoiler.

 

Yeah, I hear you. I don't love the turbo wheels either. The S II's and Carrera Sports, and even the Sport Designs are much better looking.

 

Ask them to buy one for you . That ought to do the trick.
