Hey guys,

I recently decided to change out my 997S shift **** for the Boxster Spyder shift **** with red letterings. I followed the DIY that was posted by bbywu, but for the life of me, the **** just can't be removed! I almost had a "hernia" trying to pull it off, but to no avail.

Any guidance or tip?

Pull harder!! Seriously...It takes a lot of force to get it off. I had to stand in the back with one foot on either side behind the seats and use my body weight in addition to pulling while positioned in fourth. Just be careful and brace yourself for when it comes free. Don't send yourself through the back window!

 

mj is correct....did it on my buddies console change and he almost hit himself in the head when it flew off!! Lots of pulling.....u wont break it..pull harder!

Like jj said, be careful to not smack yourself in the face. And I'm sure you know to unlock the ring that holds the boot in place too. Good luck!

 

2 square bars approximately a ruler length. one on either side of the shaft just below lip. squeeze together, one hand each side and lift

 

Yes, as I remember doing it couple years ago, PULL HARDER!!!

 

I have heard people put two screw driver shafts along either side. Squeeze together as you pull up. Be careful of the rear view mirror and your face.

 

although it might be painful, pull hard like u r watching ****

 

Just to make sure we're on the same page.

You've pulled up the tabs.

You've twisted the boot clockwise and felt the "click."

At this point, the **** is released. Pull upward.

If you can't get the **** to pull upward, make sure you have twisted the boot clockwise all the way.

Yup, I did exactly like your DIY. Disconnect the boot tabs, twisted the boot 90 degrees clockwise until I can't turn anymore, and I did feel the click. Actually, you can just turn the collar **** clockwise, and it does the same thing. Stuck like flies to sh*t, this ****. Will try again this weekend.

Then I believe the other people who have commented are correct. Grab hold, pull upward.
