Clanking noise from engine

I hope this isn't a serious issue, but on my way home today I started hearing clanking noises from the engine bay area... it almost sounds like a belt/chain because I can occasionally hear squeaks.

As far as I can tell, it drives the same, but I have a feeling I should take it in to get looked at... has anyone else run into this issue?

06 C2S with 29k... I have driven 4500 miles since I got it.

I am so bummed out

If it is RPM dependent, I'd stop driving it immediately and get it flatbedded to the dealership.

+1. Even if it's not, you should get a phone consult before driving it.

I noticed a small puddle of what appears to be oil under where the engine sits on the ground. Could this be RMS? I am waiting for the flatbed to arrive and having a mini panic attack!

Got it flatbedded to the dealer... service rep said definitely not RMS... suspecting it to be a lose hose or a water pump issue. Everything's covered under warranty so I'm feeling better. It took me about a minute to figure out how to a drive the rental car since I was so used to my car... "where do I put the key" "what is this void where my left foot usually goes?"

good luck with repair, check with them if they will be dropping engine or transmission (just call service manager and ask to let you know if it will be done) - if they will do it and cover labor by warranty - ask to get in new clutch, new rms, new aos - pay for parts and ask if they can discount labor.

if it is a water pump they will not drop engine/tranny.

Good news.. they called me this morning and confirmed it was the water pump. I asked if they noticed any other potential areas for concern but they said everything else is solid. I am satisfied with how quickly they resolved the issue and can't wait to pick her up this afternoon!
