Dead Battery

Battery Moll 570 o59 o57

Hallo my name is Willie and I have a 997 S Red Cabrio. Since it is my summer car in Germany, during this winter the battery went totally dead.

I took it out already to charge it, but I am little bit afraid about which charger to use. Is any special advice I should follow?.
Thank you in advance for any clue you may give me

Battery woes...

If the battery is 3 years or older.... replace it with a new battery. Typically the Porsche cars EAT batteries for breakfast. Replace with a NON Porsche battery. They last longer and have fewer issues!!

If the battery is just low (no bad cells) and can recover by charging it, you do not need to remove it from the car for charging. Just use the Porsche (dual mode) maintainer or the CTek equivalent -
HERE HERE
. In Germany you need the european 220V version, of course.

Thank you guys

Bought it in ebay should be home in short.
I took the battery out due there is no electricity connection in the garage.
Battery is not that old.
Next winter I will try the solar charger. I used once in my boat and worked ok.

If you use the CTek charger... be prepared.. it will take several days before it will be charged completely, especially if you charge through the cigarette lighter socket but... it does work .. :-)

You'd better peel the sticker off middle top (where it's perforated) and using a coin, open up each of the 6 cells to make sure they are full to the L hook (use a flashlight). If not, top off each cell w/ DISTILLED WATER only. Otherwise, you'll over cook the battery (w/ most if not all maintainers) yielding a still dead battery...

I connected the charger
CTEK MXS5.0 at 18:00 hs Friday, (battery was completely dead) about 11:30 that day the read light showed up, I pressed the mode botton, and the charger has re-started and went right away to step number 3. In the morning at seven the charger was in step 7. Then, took 13 hours from dead to full charge.
I installed it back in the car, no alarm sound, everything was full in operation. Turn the key on and the engine moved slow, very slow. three crank and he was "back to life"
Wanted to mentioned, last time I started the engine was December 5. therefore it stayed three months sleeping
