997.2 with 991 20" wheels?

so looking at the new 991, i wondered what would a 997.2 look like with the same big wheels? would the cars look that different...anyone have any comparison pictures? when i saw the car at the dealer it was the new 20"wheels that seemed to make the biggest visual difference. thanks

Same here. I'd definitely like to see that as well. Hopefully someone will post some pix.

found a comparison picture on teamspeed

look close - now if we could add the wheels we might start to see how similar they are

I downloaded the teamspeed photo & enlarged it. When I measure the opening (east - west) of the wheel well the 991 is greater. Also from the top of the wheel arch to the top of the fender is less on the 991. But then again I'm measuring from a photo that may have distortion.
However there are a number of guys w/ the 997s that are running 20' wheels.

I stared at that picture of the 991 vs 997, on looks alone I can't justify moving to a 991. Hell, I'm a Porsche fanatic and it took me 10 minutes to spot differences. I guarantee you regular folk won't be able to tell. Yes, I've driven a 991 and on a track, the car is totally new. But driving around town/highway, I wouldn't be able to justify a move, especially since I already have 20" wheels

2nd.
I brought my Caddy in for service this morning and stopped by the Porsche dealership (next door) to see if they had a 991 as I have yet to see one. They did and it was the same exact color configuration as my 997.1. I walked around it and sat it in. I described it to the salesperson as the same but different. It very much looks and feels like a 997 but just different (and in a good way) It's updated and fresher but not overwhelmingly so. I took a picture and sent it to my brother and he responded with "if I didn't know any better, I would think that was your car". And he's very much a car guy.

I really think the general public is not going to be able to tell the two cars apart.

Overall I like it...but pretty sure I can't justify the extra $60K to upgrade.

I did the exact same thing you did. I sat in a 991, walked around, played with the controls, I had one over the weekend. I drove it all around, city driving (the pumped in engine noise was nice), but feel, really couldn't tell the difference. As I said, the only place I really saw a difference was on a track. Much different feeling, almost race-car feel to it.

But I rarely track my 997, so for me I'll be waiting for the 992.

To me the 991 looks and feels completely different than my 997.1. From the front the differences are not as apparent, but from the side and especially the rear, the car looks very different. The outside differences are much greater from 997 to 991 than from 996 to 997. I think we are kidding ourselves thinking that people can't tell them apart.
