$64k is still too high. The dealer is playing games, they all do. It won't sell at that price. You are not expecting to much for some more wiggle room. When I was looking a couple months ago I had quite a few dealers who did that whole $1k is the best we can do crap because it is already lowered. All of those cars dropped in price again and another time after that.

Kbb is not accurate to the market, nor is edmunds. There is no way to be able to say buy it for this or that only but you can be smart about it. If you feel the prices too high then it is too high for you to be comfortable.

Look at autotrader for comparables and know those will have money knocked off too for their buyer.

They have had the car for 1 month and we are at the beginning of August, you need to wait. They will lower the price again before the month is over. I would think $60k is a bit aggressive but a firm $64k is too high...I would meet in the middle and be happy. A grand or two for the car u want will be forgotten as soon as you drive off the lot!

Yeah at the beginning the hunt is fun then it wears you down. If its not the deal you want, keep looking. As it gets closer to fall and winter, sales will slow down by a lot in cold weather areas and people are thinking about the holidays which will also hurt dealers. That was my plan, but I found I car I couldn't pass up. gl

Interesting, they also have two of their 09 c2 available for lease: http://www.porschedowntownla.com/specials/used.htm

They don't say how many miles per year but I'm assuming without negotiating their asking price is high. Never thought about leasing, but any idea what a good deal for the black 2009 c2s would be for lease? Currently it's 1097/m, 39 months, residual 31.8K

Edit - nevermind, I want to own a 911 not lease.

No exciting nor promising news from my end yet fella's. .. .

However, I wanted to say how appreciative I am to all of you for dropping by this thread and enlightening me from every small detail to major point I should be looking for during this search.

An EXTRA special thanks to DaBerlin' here on the forums, whom I have never met and went above and beyond any act of generosity to drop by a local dealer close to him and take expert pictures and look at a prospective vehicle for me...Thanks D' -I can tell you I have a close family and none of my brothers would do this for me on their Saturday, taking the time away from their sons and daughters to do something like that!

You guys rock and for all the morale busting days I spend with a sales man, there is one of you here on the forum that keeps my head up and makes things uplifting .. here's to you all and the comradery these 997.2's bring us together for!!

Congrats! So where did you end up getting the car from? How much off from listing price did you get? Let's see some pics when you get a chance.

Thanks OC and Everyone!

- sorry been busy with quite a few things going all at once..Apologies in advance for these poor quality pix -until I have some good photo's up, here's a few from my Ipad..

I landed the car from Porsche Downtown LA at $61,600 from their asking price of $64887 (this was the Blue car I had previously posted about).. They were a pain in the rear and not very transparent about anything they said from the beginning on their ad, during negotiations, and until they end. Hope you guys are not surprised, after all they are car salesmen!

Nevertheless, thanks to DB* here for all his wisdom and personal generosity of visiting the dealer and checking the car out first for me (as I'm in Norcal). Based on his findings and expertise I received some really really great feedback (which I would have known nothing about being all new to the 911 car and buying one CPO). With this guidance and expertise, they drastically decreased the stresses I would have had going into this solo and most of all, as a newby...

As time progresses, I hope to continue to learn more from you all..and becoming even better friends DB*

~~New pix updated- thank you everyone!
