for those who plan to own their cars for sometime, a durametric to reset the service interval may be worth it. The "amateur" version is good for 3 vins.
So if 2-3 people buy it together it would pay back in a couple of oil changes (you would be ahead in 2 years if 3 people share one)

Reviving this thread to add a little more info. Just finished changing the oil on my 2011 TTS.

After I removed the drain plug, 5.5 to 6 quarts of oil gushed out within 3 to 5 mins. Oil was warm to the touch. 30 mins prior, I drove around to get engine to operating temperature per the electronic oil level gauge.

After those 3 to 5 mins, the oil trickled out very slowly for 45 mins. Picture a thin, continuous line of oil. After those 45 mins, oil dripped out for approx 2.5 hrs.

When I refilled the engine with oil, I ended up using 8.5 quarts.

I had no intention of waiting 2.5 hrs for the dripping to continue....however, I was convinced I had the wrong oil filter to replace what I removed. See pics below.

When I initially compared the old filter with the new filter, I was convinced it would not fit. The center opening's diameter didn't match. Newer filter was smaller. After calling dealer to confirm part numbers, he consensus was for me to return to dealer to exchange my faulty filter. Well, living 55 miles from dealer and wanting to finish the job, I decided to take another look at the new filter. The white felt-type matierial in the center of the oil filter is flexible. Apply pressure and it gives way. See third pic. I had to "force" the filter onto the base of the filter canister and the result was a very snug fit. Changed out green o-ring that I paid $10 for and screwed the black plastic canister cap back on and finished.

First Porsche and first Porsche oil change, so, didn't want to screw things up.

One last thing, car is a beast with a fresh oil change. I mean...Turbo is smoother and faster/more eager to run. Gears seem to engage faster.

Definitely an easy oil change. Didn't even lift the car off the ground. I didn't check the oil level after filling until the engine was at operating temperature. I drove to the gas station and back. My first fill consisted of 7 quarts, then 1 quart, then half a quart. Oh yeah, had to buy a 36mm socket from Lowes to remove oil filter canister top.

Glad I didn't pay the dealer $220 to $300 to do this. Mind you, I almost did but refused to wait 2 to 3 hours for the service to be completed...I've got other things to do

Cheers!

No, that's the strange thing. Doesn't make any sense...maybe I was just overly excited I did the job and "thought I felt a change". The car just felt more connected between transmission and engine somehow. Power just felt more directly put to the ground. Car has 15,2xx miles.
