What is the difference between 997.1 VS 997.2

on the engine and transmission.

I saw some specs on my 997.1 2007 355 HP vs 385 997.2 this is true?

What I knew then the change was only on the intake (PDI) for better MPG economy?

Thanks

the 997.2 engine has the direct fuel injection (DFI) for more power and better mpg.

The auto transmission was changed from Tiptronic to PDK in 997.2.. a huge improvement IMO

thanks mine is manual.

Has someone been able to fit this new DFI or is it a big job and money to do it? Is it just the intake or has some modifications the engine head?

You can purchase the X-51 kit to bump your car to 381 hp. Currently runs about $7k

One estimate I had was around 36 hrs, which made it not worth it to me. You can also go with one of the Turbo or SC systems.

For that kind of money your better off going forced induction. Even with the x51 kit my guess is that a DFI Carrera S will still feel stronger.

Question Thank you for such an informative post

I'm looking for a Porsche and have seen many for sale between 2006 and 2008, but it seems that a prudent buyer would at least make sure to purchase a 997.2

Is it simply that 2009 model year is going to be a 997.2 or will there be some half year models that will be difficult to tell without reading the Monroney Sticker...?

2009 and up are all 997.2. They will also have the front and rear LED's (except 09 turbo) and the stereo is black instead of silver. There are several other differences, but these can be easily spotted by the beginner.

Don't know the correct naming convention but I consider the 09 turbo to be a 997.1 primarily since engine didn't change from 08 and 07 turbos.
