excessive vibration issue

i've noticed today there is an excessive vibration inside the cabin. at first i thought the cold startup might have caused it and drove around for about 30 minutes and it still exists.

it vibrates to the point where i can visually see the passenger side seat shaking. it vibrates during idle and also during driving.

only thing that i've done recently to the car was to replace a clutch and not the flywheel. can this be the reason? or maybe i need to replace the engine mount?

i have a 997.2s with 55k miles on the clock. tia

if it's doing it at idle, i doubt it's clutch or flywheel related since you are in neutral.

engine mount is a good lead. other things could be exhaust (less likely).

Hummm, good to know that the passenger seat should not visually vibrate. I thought it was just part of my car's character. One more thing to add to the list for the upcoming service trip. Hope it is covered under warranty.

Thanx for your reply. Is it possible that the vibration is caused by an old spark plug?

It could be a misfire, but if that was the case you should get a check engine light. Do you have any check engine lights on ? I would venture to say it's a engine mount.

no cel. i'm beginning to lean toward engine mount too. i've read some posts regarding engine mounts and i'm guessing either wevo and rss semi solid mounts for the street?

also, what is the avg labor cost to replace them at a local workshop? i may install it myself if the cost is too high.

So is it confirmed that you should not see your passenger seat vibrate? I thought that was the norm too and didn't really think much of it.

no it hasn't been confirmed yet since i've read that even some dealerships are saying this is normal? i guess i can deal with it but if it is something as minor as an engine mount swap, i'd rather replace asap and focus more on the road.

I installed a set of WEVO motor mounts (easy DIY). You will feel some motor vibration at idle but it disappears as soon as you start rolling. The stock mounts are really soft in comparison. You can actually move them by hand.

Does your passenger seat visibly vibrate after the wevo install? my passenger seat visibly vibrates approximately 1cm side to side.

Absolutely not (you sure your seat ain't loose?). You can feel the (minor) vibes in the seat of your pants and a little in the steering wheel. No visible shaking of anything. Like I stated, they go away as soon as you start rolling. Have someone rev your engine while you stand behind it as see how much the exhaust tips move. With the WEVO's there is almost zero movement.
