Bump in SFO Road caused serious Damage

Well...While heading out of Downtown San Fran last night the 997 got some serious "AIR TIME".....I means some Dukes of Hazard type of AIR....I was driving down 4th street headed towards Bryant....Doing about 40mph and BAM...Out of nowhere I saw this huge BUMP in the middle of the LANE with the Steel top....The car literally was in the AIR for a few seconds....Once it landed into the conviently located pothole....I pulled over on the side of the road...The Aerokit front lip is rashed up really bad....The car is pulling to the Right....Both Techart sideskirts have a 1/2 " gap between the body and the skirts....The right tire has a lot of peeling going on with the outer portion of the sidewall....Thats all I can tell for the meantime....The car is running fine...But I think there is a strange rubbing sound coming from the car....I can' t really describe it....I'm going to take it into Brook in OAKLAND and have them put it on a lift and get an estimate.....Thank god everything else seems fine no fluid is leaking and the car is running fine....BTW while I looked into the motor after this I happened to find a piece of the old drive belt thats about 5" long inside the alternator housing....The Porsche dealer replaced that old belt..Had a few questions...

1) Any Chance of the suspension getting damaged such as struts, Control arms and linkages ?

2) Any effects on the Motor / Transmission ?

3) Most importantly the Frame getting Bent as a result of this ?

My deductible is $100.00....But after talking to the insurance company there were like this would be countable even though there was no collision with any other car.....

Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated...

Having it checked out should answer your questions.
Raise your deductible, as high as you think you can afford.
That will save you money, to help pay for the repairs!

Sorry to hear about your problem. I recently hit a pot hole and damaged my front bumper. The insurance company paid to have that replaced, as well as a wheel repaired, and the front left radiator had a kink in it as well as brackets bent. The alignment was seriously effected. Have the radiators closely inspected. Although mine were not leaking I was informed in time with hotter weather I could have faced a problem. Good luck.

Taking it to Brooks Motor Cars is a smart move. Daniel Kim is a fantastic guy and will do you proud. No one else touches my cars when it comes to accident damage.

I try and be very careful any where in the city. One day while in SF this homeless guy was trying to bum money however I was on the phone and didn't want to be bothered. Came out to my car and the bum knifed my sidewall.

You just never know what will happen.

Ouch that sucks! Frame damage is unlikely from a relatively small impact.

Would wager a guess that you have some bodywork and an alignment, possibly a bent wheel. It sucks, but it could be a lot worse.

Was this a road construction/repair site where your vehicle damage occured? Wondering if you should have treated this as a vehicle accident and called the police. I think the city would have had some responsibility in covering the damage.

San Francisco just sucks all the way around. If it is not the horrible street conditions it's the A-hole homeless aggressive panhandlers.

Last time I had to go hands-on was a panhandler who got very aggressive when I told him I didn't have any money for him. This was right across the street from the Federal courthouse in downtown SF at 2:00 PM with people all over the place and Federal cops right across the street. When the guy tried to grab me I put him in an arm-bar, slammed him into a store window and then dropped him on the ground hard. I looked and the Federal cops just stood and did nothing at all. I walked away and continued on with my day.

I hate going to SF and avoid at at all costs. Someone needs to round up all of the aggressive panhandlers, put them on a barge, take them out about 30 miles into the ocean and throw them overboard. The city would be better off.
