PCM 2.1 wire diagram? -- microphone question
Hi.
I was noticing a partial wire diagram for the PCM 2.1 on this link, was wondering if anyone had the full wire diagram?

My goal/curiosity is if there is a microphone wire to use the built in steering wheel microphone? I have a Dension with the external mic, just curious if I could use the mic's on the steering wheel. Has anyone tried this?

No, unfortunately I never did, and never got any hits to the above, so abandoned the idea. If you do find something though (cause I believe its probably do-able), please share it, I would really like to try this out.
When I had my Mobridge unit installed, the installer told me that there is a mic in the factory location but it's not compatible with the Mobridge unit. I assume this applies to the Denison unit also, but I don't know that.
did you tried to put the aftermarket microphone at OEM location? a lot of people said the sound quality was not too good......... Is it because OEM has 2 mics comparing aftermarket has ????
yes, everyone said the behind the rear view mirror is the best location. But I kind of not like remove A pillar cover and wire mike all the way to the center front of the ceiling which might increase future loose parts squeeze noise. Plus, the aftermarket mike is pretty ugly

I have the Dension and I wired the mic to the top of the A-pillar, which I find is the best position for audio quality and looks most discreet.
You don't really have to remove the a-piller cover. You can use a thin trim removal tool (some suggested a credit card) and just push the mic cable into the a-pillar cover. Or just run it thru the door frame and hide the cable behind the black plastic weather trim.
Note:
1) unless your passengers need to be in the phone conversation frequently, putting the mic at the driver side A-pillar is better than at rear mirror. The A-pillar absorbs better the ambient noise and reflection of your voice.
2) on the Dension, you'll need to play with the gain-level setting for the mic, but NOT set it too high because it has a crappy mic-amplifier and WILL distort your voice. Try with a caller a few times to get the best result. I set mine to +6, I think.

The mic that I have behind my rearview mirror is almost invisible. It's tiny. The sound quality is excellent and it does a nice job of picking up driver and passenger. If I had it to do all over again, I would put it in exactly the same place.
