When i did mine , after fitting the x pipe, I then traced the outline onto the muffler pipes and opened the holes to within an 1/8" from the marked line. I dont have a final pic but I enlarged the holes substantially larger than in the picture. The hole on the left pipe is closer to being done than the right side...... custom enlarging these holes is what takes most of the time.....a muffler shop might just blow a hole with a torch and may not remove the slag from around the hole interfering with exhaust flow

On my 997.2 I purchased the FVD-Brombacher sport exhaust because my Gundo hack mufflers sounded like crap. I removed the Sharkworks bypass because I thought it was just too loud. I like those much better than the Gundo Hack mufflers. It is really hard to base an opinion on sound until you have heard them in person. Even the FVD Brombachers didn't sound as I heard on the video to me. This is why I removed the bypass to reduce the sounds.

Have yet to here a Gundo hack I like be it the "popular one" or otherwise. To me something sounds broken or rather like a raspy trumbone.

Yeah, I'm not terribly happy with mine, either. Then again, I put these on because the muffler bypass pipes were too loud. I want that sound, less dbs

Did you find out what went wrong? I am going to do this gundo hack and hope to do it right. What is the clue here?

Did you figure out about the problem? I just had mine 997 C2S done and im in the same boat. The car sould terrible i have to say. its ok on idle and from 5k and up but in the middle section it sounds like a Volvo 240.

I have an idea that the muffler guy made smaller holes than the actuall 2"inch tube beeing used. Could this cause ?

I would say the exhaust note is louder, but at the same time it sounds more boxed in (bad flow?)

I have a simple paper PDF template a 2” pipe gundo hack if you are going to do it your self. Then you can mark the inlet and outlet pipes to get the correct cutout size.

They officially are now $550 to weld in the two pipes and shipping is $200 for both ways so your looking at $750 now for this Fister hack.
