I think this looks better than the Maxon one on the other thread. And the maxon is made for the 997.2, LOL... Sits too far out on the sides IMO.

Probably biased, but the 997.2 looks so much better than the 991 in this pic. Cleaner lines and more sporty.

Great job! Some of the best mods are the ones that look stock and in my opinion this looks like a factory lip made for the 997 unlike some of the other aftermarket lips that are so ostentatious. I have been wanting and looking for a front lip for my 997.1 but have yet to find one that is not so ostentatious, I have been looking at the 991 factory lip very closely determining if I could modify it to fit. This was exactly what I was thinking and the fact that you did it with some instructions is awesome, many reasons why I like the forums. Great job and I will be doing the same thing very soon.

Thanks for all the comments. A couple of weeks in and I have now had the chance to do some high speed runs.
The handling feels as good as ever. I'd love to say that the downforce seems better, but am infinitely aware that could just be the placebo effect

One thing I can say with certainty is that I absolutely love the looks. One of the best mods I can suggest, as long as you have some patience...

You wont regret it.

Regarding 997.1 fitment; I took a look at some pics on ebay at the underside of a few used 997.1 bumpers and it appears that the underside is completely flat. The 997.2 bumper in comparison has a recessed area into which the OEM spoiler mounts.
This wouldn't prevent installation of the 991 spoiler onto the 997.1, but it may require some kind of filler material to be used on the outer outer edges of the spoiler as these edges are shaped to hug a small radius on the underside of the bumper.

If I can locate a 997.1 over the weekend to take a look I'll let you know.

so you think this could be done without hacking a 997 lip as a donor?

I believe it could. As mentioned, if I ever need to replace the current one, that is what I'll attempt first.

Take a look at this thread. Another member just installed the 991 lip using a slightly different and easier method.

Try GT3TEK front lip for 997.1. It's good quality and can take a lot of beating without worry about cracks with their polyutharane material.

Cool 991 lip to fit 997.1 ?

thinking of doing this on a 997.1, however the 997.1 is flat on the bottom and not sure I can get the sides to mate up (as there is no indentation to fit the lip as in the 997.2). any suggestions ?
