SUCCESS! 991 Sports Lip installed on 997.2

Hatzenbach,
Would you mind taking a picture of your car from a distance? One from the front and one from a 3/4 angle so we can get an idea of what it looks like on a non black car. Would really appreciate it.
Also, i remember you having the gt3tek lip before. Which lip did you like better? Which one gives you more clearance?

awesome...!! any wider shots (full side profile) and further away from a front or front 3/4 angle?
thank you!
thank you!
As promised here are a few pictures of my installation job.
A few remarks:
a) yes the car needs to be washed ;-)
b) wow - that's a lot of screws. Well if you look at all the scuff marks that were already on my bumper it's a little easier to bring yourself to put more holes in it. I fugured more screws will distribute any impact more evenly
c) is the new front lip already scratched? Yes, there is one nasty driveway that I have to take that just "keeps on giving"
d) what is the blue pipe? Well this is reinforcement so that the lip doesn't flex too much (at high speeds or at ground impact). It's a 1/2" plastic pipe that I had laying around
e) Your car looks low - yes it's a C4S which has an OEM ride hight of 20mm lower than stock
f) what fasteners did you use? (see earlier post)

About GT3Tek vs. sports lip:
The front clearance is about the same, but the big advantage is that the sports lip doesn't extend to the corners. Well, when you have a low car, you usually take steep driveways at an angle. This works with the sports lip, but not with the GT3Tek lip, so overall you have more options with the sports llip.
In addition I decided that the GT3Tek lip doesn't look good unpainted, while I think the sports lip looks better unpainted.

Excellent write up EMC2 and thanks for version 2 Hatzenbach! I have been looking for a suitable front lip with no luck and this is perfect solution. I just ordered one and plan to install it in a week or so. I think I am going to go with the screw method rather than using the mounting tabs from the existing 997.2 lip.

Will do (not before the weekend though)

I think another important side effect of mounting directly to the bumper (wth screws) is that you probably gain a few mm of extra clearance.

Looking forward to seeing the results - you're going to like it
As I mentioned above, you'll gain a few mm's extra clearance that way also. Along with a few extra hours of time to drive

i used the thinner screws in areas where there was not a lot of surrounding material and the thicker ones everywhere else. There were also one or two places where I was worried to pinch a coolant hose, so I used the thinner (shorter) screws there

Mine comes in next week and I don't plan to take the bumper off. I will probably just lift the front end. My plan is to use a combination of the screws and some of the heavy duty 3M mounting tape that I have laying around. I cant wait for it to come in. I have already spray painted the heads of my screws black I'm so grateful that EMC2 came up with this inexpensive mod.

Great, thanks for the replies, I was ready to attempt the removal of the bumper but thought it may not be needed. I purchased my first jack and a couple of stands, so will put them to good use. I thought the drive on ramps may be too steep/high to get the car on, I have an S but when I had the PPI done the Porsche mechanic said it looks to be a bit lower than even the PASM S setting. Will share pics as soon as I get done. I may look to pick up some of the 3M tape, that's a good idea, even if just to hold it in place while inserting the screws.

Those that did the direct method - did you shave off the edges of the clips on the 991 lip, or screwed it on with them on? I took a quick look today and removed the 997.2 lip, will attempt to install the new one tomorrow. I think I'll keep it flush with the bumper, hold it in place with some 3M tape to get it's placement right, then use the screws to secure it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

my lip didn't have any clips. Are you sure you got the correct lip?
The reason why I am asking is that the first lip I picked up from my Porsche dealer was the wrong lip (it doesn't have the protruding spoiler, they accidentally gave me the wrong lip) and that one had clips.
