Question/battery tender choice
These units are universal, they work with all cars. Read the CTEK site:
https://smartercharger.com/products/...multi-us-3300/
There is no mystery about these units or how they work. The CTEK is about as advanced as it gets, which is why Porsche, Aston, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and many others put their logo on them, and mark up the price 5 times. The Porsche unit, under it's skin, is a CTEK.

Bob,
You can feel very comfortable buying the CTEK 3300. It's a no-risk tender/ charger. Buy the accessory cigarette lighter adapter, and the rubber surround, pic below. Plug it into your lighter, turn it on to the right setting, and you're done.
The only advice I'd give is this: the unit will get hot. That is normal. So don't place it on the leather or vinyl of the car. I plug it into my center console and run the wire out the window, and leave the unit on the top of the rear window- the rubber surround (an accessory I recommend) will stop it from slipping.
Without the cigarette lighter adapter you have to clamp the unit directly to the battery. Just easier to plug it into the cigarette lighter.
I remember writing to CTEK when I first got my 3300 for the Aston Martin, as I was concerned about the heat. Here is what they wrote:
"A charger can get quite hot, around 50-60 C. [122-140 F]. It feels hot as a hot tea pot, so you wouldn’t like to keep it in your hand for very long. This happens in the bulk-phase, step number 3 and is normal when the charger is working hard –and with a too big battery. In the following step, the absorption-phase, the charger has already started to cool off. Keep the charger in a well ventilated (normal room is good) place, not stuffed in somewhere, while charging, as there is no fan inside and the only way to cool off is via convection."
For whatever it's worth, I keep the CTEK connected to my 997 on the car setting, but the CTEK connected to my Aston on the motorbike setting, which charges it more slowly in stage 3. Really doesn't matter thought, as the CTEK 3300 will shut down when the battery is fully charged, unlike other less sophisticated units.

I agree with CATTMAN, I've been using CTEK chargers for over 10 years and am a very satisfied customer. I have a 3300 and a 4.3 (which has a more sophisticated cycle) but both work perfectly well. I installed the "permanent" pigtail directly to my battery, and leave the end in the cowl area tucked under the frunk lid, making it convenient to plug my car in when I park in my garage.
I drive my 997 2-3x/month or so... had the ‘is a tender necessary’ conversation with my car pals. Most of them drive Italian cars and we all came to the conclusion that while Italian cars generally need one, the Germans don’t, unless very long intervals in between.
