Battery Tender or Disconnect Battery?

I am going out of town for about half a year and was wondering what you guys recommend as storage options. Do I go with a Battery Tender or is it just ok to disconnect the negative. Any recommendations for Battery Tender? Thank you.

I use a CTEK, which can be had for under $50. A battery that just sits will degrade and die, but a tender will run charging programs to keep it in top condition.

I use the dual mode Porsche battery tender and have no issues in more than a years worth of use. Bought it from Suncoast (board sponsor). It's currently on sale for $105.00

I disconnect my battery over the Winter months. Get a PSM failure when I start the car, but that goes away within a mile and it's never bothered me.

I use a Battery tender and have had no issues. I also use the battery tender in the summer months when I'm not driving the 911

a battery tender will be better for the battery. batteries lasts longer when stayed charged. you can disconnect the battery also if needed. Disnconnecting the battery is fine though, especially if the car isn't near a power outlet.

You should also over inflate your tires, especially the rears, to avoid flat spotting. The owner manual covers that. Also, fill up the gas tank and put a few drops of stabilizer if you want to be extra safe.

I volunteer to drive it while you're gone - that'll keep that pesky battery from dying (or, use a battery tender)

I'm away on extended business travel too and my car sits in a storage unit with no power outlets. I disconnect my battery (and I prop the hood with a towel so it doesn't latch). Last time I was home it started up just fine after reconnecting the battery and I got the usual dash alerts that went away once I started driving.
