Spark plugs choice
Hi,
Recently when shopping for new spark plugs on Pelican Parts website I've noticed porsche original spark plugs which are made by Bosh and then Bosh spark plugs with the same Bosh part number as Porsche spark plugs. The only difference was the price $21.75 vs $6.50 for Bosh. Are they exactly the same and I'll be paying extra for packaging with Porsche logo? If theres any difference what would be your choice? Thanks in advance.

Yes, exactly the same. Parts marked "Genuine" may have a Porsche part number on them and come in a box with a Porsche logo, but is the same part as that labeled as "OEM" as long as the manufacturer part number is the same. That's sometimes referred to as the "Porsche Tax".

You'll find this with a lot of parts; for example, the coils are made by Beru, the tie rod ends by TRW, etc. You don't need to pay an extra 25%+ for the fancy Porsche print on the cardboard box they come in ;-)

I had Porsche put in their brand plugs in about 4 years ago. I think this time around I will put them in myself and put in some iridium ones. I am not sold that any brand iridium plugs are better then the other. Anyone have experience with this?
