PCM 3.0 CarPlay retrofit

OK searched around and didn't find anything but I may have missed the thread.

Has anyone done the PCM 3.0 retrofit to update the existing screen with CarPlay.

Namely the JoyeAuto, NM Automotive, Auto Amateur kits.

That is have you done the conversion, how hard was it and how do you like it so far?

NM Auto (unichip) Works great, I was intimidated by opening the PCM…don’t let that get your dander up…easier than I thought, even misconnectected ribbons, all worked out.
works better than my aftermarket CarPlay in my 2017 Lexus….go for it, works great!! Worth the cost!
total plug and play!
watch the YouTube’s
also I have this…

Was the original head unit equipped with bluetooth? That setup is looks better than any aftermarket available!

I don't know if all PCM 3.0 have Bluetooth, but I know mine does (2012 997.2 4S). I've ordered the NM Automotive unit and Nick should be shipping it at the end of the August. I also ordered a rear camera (
NATIKA Backup/Front View Camera NATIKA Backup/Front View Camera
) which seems to be the preferred/recommended camera. Hopefully I can post a write-up/review next month.

yes my original head unit has BT and AUX, hardest part for me was running the wiring for Back up camera, because line was shared by my Sport Exhaust wiring and I didn’t want to compromise it.
opening the PCM was a slight challenge, but not that big a deal.
unit still, works great.

Do you have backup sensors? I'm curious as to where the various lines (red, orange, etc...) are coming from. From what I've been able to find, there is a need to cut some of the backup camera wires depending of the presence of backup sensors. Also, again from what I have been able to find out, there may be issues getting those lines to show up at all if the car is not equipped with backup sensors... So much information and misinformation, all based on what the original car has

the backup camera has additional Black/red hook up wires for tail light connection, NOT NEEDED, with NMT unit, it’s just plug and play to the NMT wiring.
the extra wire, I removed and used to hook up Hopkins sensor plate holder, hooked up to backup light.
I didn’t cut any of the camera wires, that’s why my backup PCM shows dark overlay, both backup lines are shown. So I have additional audio back up warning.
no additional back up sensors are required for the lines to work with setup.

Thanks for the info. Those backup sensors are intriguing, I'll have to look into it.
