It just means we don't have our head up our ***

I like the Boxster but thought the Cayman was way overpriced and should have been below the Boxster in price. It handles amazingly well but like most Porsches makes you feel like it needs another 50 ponies. I also think the interior is lacking for a 70K car. The Cayman misses in hp and interior. The ZO6 may have a crappy interior but it delivered in the performance department in spades.

I see Caymans and my carculator is underwhelmed.

It goes something like this:

Carrera S > Z06 > Cayman S

I like the Cayman interior. Not as nice as a 911 but still very high quality and good looking.

A bit off topic, but along the same lines :

I am seriously thinking of trading my RR for a Chevrolet Impala .

The Impala is an INCREDIBLE car . It has more leg room ,bigger trunk space , get's better milage , and is much faster from 0 to 60 .
And at only 1/10 the cost , it definitely is a lot of value for the money.

Please let me know what you think of this trade . Thanks .

If I decide to keep it and not upgrade to the 997S w/ EVO SC, I will upgrade the performance of the CaymanS. By then, a million more tuners wil have options as well. In any event, I'll take a CaymanS or the 997S over ANY Vette ANYDAY.
I understand where you are coming from as I had a C5 back in 01'. The C6 is much better but still has room for improvement (a lot of improvement in the interior). But as much as I want a 911 and all its practicality, the little kid in me is kicking and screaming for maximum performance and even a 997S fully massaged from EVO (which is going to put you well over 100K on a lightly optioned car) is only going to keep up with a ZO6.

There is a simple solution, Chevy could magically transform the interior of the Vette and weed out a few QC problems or Porsche could offer a 911 S with a lot more performance for the money. Otherwise we are left saying yeah I want to haul *** and live with a marginal interior or yeah ok I will pay for the nice interior but I have to put up with C6's keeping up with me at the track.

I would rather drive an Evo MR and be 55k into it including car and be able to crush a Z06. I mean if you have to settle for $hitty interior might as well get an AWD beast of a noisey little car vs. a Chevy!

Well, you can live with a ZO6, its really close to the 911 in ride quality and noise, in fact if you ditched the runflats I bet it would be a wash. EVO's are intolerable before you start tweaking on them. Great for track work for sure but thats it.

Evo MR rides quite well thanks to softer springs vs. regular Evo and Bilstein shocks. 300hp per liter + suspension for 15k in mods and the roof stays put too

status

this discussion could go on forever. The Vette is great car for performance and thats it.(this has been said before) I think one of the major reason we buy high end cars beside performance is status. A perfect example of this was this weekend when i was leaving the mall and a new c6 was right behind me. The guy just got his car and he was reving and making a bunch of noise. As he passed me, he stuck his hand out and gave a me a thumbs down! I have never experienced this from any other car owner. I was surprised beyond belief. I laughed as he drove off because if you can actually afford a Porsche, you have probably made good for yourself and have some class.

The fact is when you were a kid, you always dreamed of a owning a Porsche when you grew up. I dont know one person that dreamed of a Vette.

For most people, if you can afford a Porsche you wouldn't buy a Vette. ON the flip side, if you can only afford a Vette, then a Porsche is probably out of the question.

In the end, its your decision. My buddy just picked up a used c5 z06 cause he couldnt afford any more. His nickname for the car is the "raped Ape". Fast as hell but scares the crap out of you because it feels like the car is going to fall apart when you hit 100. For me, there is more about a car than just performance. I think everyone can agree on that. I would NEVER be caught dead in a chevy.

thanks

Don't get me wrong cause I think the EVO and STi are great cars but even a softer ride in one could loosen dental work. I like them a lot and honestly would not be against having one but in the end they just don't fit in with me.

ZO6 with drag radials and zero mods have posted in the 10's. Thats ridiculous for a car that you can roll around town in relative quiet and comfort.

Dropstop. I agree with you about 90%. I can afford a Porsche but may end up choosing a ZO6. I know there are lots of guys who do. If you can cough up 80K for a Vette, you can find another 10K for a 911. Personally, I don't need the status in fact I think in some cases it works against me. But, I have driven the 997S several times now and I just don't love it, yes its great, its a fantastic package and yeah I would be happy to have one, but I am not in love with it and its not going to get me laid or have any other impact on my life other than being a fun car.

I know there are some serious D-sh*ts who drive Vettes but I know some huge pieces of work rolling around in p-cars as well. Personally, I think the ZO6 is going a long way towards introducing these two people.

A 911 will get you laid more than a vette will!

I cant believe that guy gave you the thumbs down. i would have laughed at him too! for the most part, of the vetter owners i have met, they have no class whatsoever. im not saying this is always the case, but there are some who troll on here and are exactly that, trolls. of course there are Porsche guys are have the elitest attitude and are snobs but you get that with every high end car like a Porsche, ferrari, or lambo. i mean i get called a snob because i wear Diesel, dolce & gabbana, gucci wallets, etc and because my dad game me a 911.
