If you are doing it strictly for more performance, it's hard to argue with that move. For me, I'd be annoyed every time I went to adjust the cheesy Delco stereo, touch the cheesy gear lever, etc. I've had an Evo (two now), so I know about sacrificing nice interior bits for performance, but I wouldn't make that sacrifice on a car over $50K.

No matter what people tell you, get the car that makes you happy every time you look at it, fire it up, etc. I know for me, my 997S does precisely that.

I couldn't do it. Take the hit you would lose by selling your Porsche, and use that money to supercharge it instead. Sure it's not exactly a cash flow item to spend the money that you would have lost in the sale, but it kinda makes sense, right? Right?

i have not driven the Z06 but i have driven the c6 chuch mallet heavily tuned car. There is no question about power and the TORQUE. it's like a rocket. but the interiior is still so hard to get over. I hate to say it but i find the interior of a Honda Civic Coupe to be of better material. The exterior of the Z06 is amazing IMHO. i really like the vent in the bumper. it's hot.

Get the car you want cuz in the end of the day that is what you worked for.
Porsches are my cup of tea though.

I went the opposite route; one of the biggest reasons I traded the Z06 was the lack of feeling from the steering. While it had much more power, most of my time was spent carving through back roads. There wasn't much feedback from the Z06 - the steering felt numb; not much different than my Jeep. The seats also sucked - not much lateral support and very slippery. I guess I just consider the 997 to be much more of a driver's car.

Still, the Z06 is a great car and an incredible value... I do miss the rush of it's almost bottomless well of torque. Good luck with whatever you opt to do...

I have to agree with you. Ive driven several C6 Corvettes and the steering feedback is seriously lacking. I could not trade in my 997 on a Z06. Chevy gets my respect for building such a fast car for under 100K, but when you step into one, it's obvious that corners were cut, and i couldnt live with that. The value on the Z06 is going to drop a good bit more than the value on your 997 will. Lease one maybe?

Go for it if you like it. Personally, I wouldn't be caught dead in a Corvette. Way too white trash for my style.

You are correct. The opinions will be biased on any forum for their particular car. If you spend time behind the wheel of both cars, besides the quality of the interior the 997 cannot touch the Z06 in ANY performance category, the 997 Turbo will even have a hard time matching the Z06 numbers. (They claim the engine is SAE certified at 505hp but they are VERY conservative with that number.) Let's face it why would you buy a Z06 if you didn't want to wax every car at the track or stoplight. If you want to turn heads buy a Viper. Keep in mind you have to learn how to drive the Z06 at the track if that is your intention. I owned an '02 Z06 and you cannot drive it at 10/10ths without practice. Does it look similar to the base c6 yes is does, but so does the 997tt compared to 997s. I had an order for an '06 Z06 but decided on an '05 Viper. Just wanted a change.
I run 11.8-11.9 in the 1/4 and there are stock Z06's doing 11.5 @ 127...these numbers are amazing. For the money there isn't a car on earth that can touch the Z and no one, on this forum included, can argue that!! The interior can be spruced up with some after market items if that is a big concern of yours. Otherwise see if a dealer will let you test drive one, if you are lucking to find one you will be hooked, the car is that intoxicating. Good Luck

Mark my words, you will regret it. Not that owning such a beast is a bad thing but its just that you've been spoiled with the overall package the Porsche provides of speed, handling and luxury.

The novelty of pulling up a light and knowing you can destroy pretty much anything you see surely has to wear off quickly - especially when your back is killing you and the heat from the transmission entering the cabin is outperforming the A/C

However lifes long enough to try a few different cars right?

"Porsche, there is no substitute!"

I'm with most here. I seriously considered a Z06 before buying my C4S. The straight line performance is nothing to sneeze at, but it's still a CHEVY. I wanted to buy American, but to think that my $75,0000 car would share parts with the next Camero, I couldn't get over. When I think of a Corvette I think of a slicked back receding hair line and Aviator sunglasses.

Don't do it.

Do it, if you dont like it you can always get rid of it.
Honestly there is more to love about a Porsche than just the "fast" factor.
I went thru 2 Bentley Continental GT's a SL65 for a week and HAD to get back to the Porsche family, there just isnt ANY substitute. But I am biased so this means nothing to you. I will ALWAYS regret selling my GT2, nothing can compare to that beast for me.

Did you mean to say 'i will ALWAYS regret selling my GT'? You said never and it seems you mistyped the word or i could just be wrong.
