Anyone ran there 997S against any of the AMG cars? How did you do?

 

Yeah I ran a e55, from a launch I took it pretty easily, first gear roll I took it pretty good and he caught up at 4th, 2nd gear roll he walked me pretty clean.

 

i remember ready a post a while back about a 997s beating a cls55???

 

Yeah I remember that also.. He said his 997S was starting to pull after a 100mph

 

The SL55 pulled on me in 2nd gear .. those cars have monster torque due to the kompressor and displacement.

 

yep I ran a SL65. Don't even try it, all I got was a bunch of rock chips in the hood

 

how bad did it pull you?

 

Unless you get a really good launch in a 997s, you will not stand a chance against most AMG's. I've had a couple of stop light drags against 997s and it was no contest...E55 won. It will take a really good Pcar driver to squeeze a mid 12 second pass in a 997s. On the other hand, it would only take an average driver to run the same time in a 55.

If they(AMG) have any mods pulley, ecu etc. game over.

 

I took a 997 from 2nd gear rolling about 25 to 90 in my 55 sorry 997's

 

You guys started off in second? Or from a launch or 1st gear roll and he started to pull on second. Untill have fast did you go and how much ahead was he.

 

AMGs are no joke, especially in a straight line.
They have monsterous tq and they are simply easier to drive fast than a 911.

 

We weren't full out racing; it was a WOT for a couple of seconds .. he would usually pull slowly. I will try a couple full runs the next time we meet up.

Like the above comments .. the SL55 is stupid easy to drive fast. You just hold the steering wheel and mash the pedal. Handling wise, I found it very dismal .. definitely not a competitor in that area.

 

i agree they are fast and monster tq but when you start turnig they are hevy and thus advantage pcar............but 55 and now 63s are no joke[and of course 65s]

 

Sorry guys but a 997S is no contest for me ....now a 997TT????

 

whats up guys. i have a mercedes and im in love with all amg cars. these car are no joke. the power is raw and its out of this world! if they made these cars in stick shift it would be a whole other car! the reason i like my porsche also is because of its 6speed gear box!
