Some tips:

1. Always check tire pressures (don't rely on the onboard one)
2. Cool down after hot laps .. and don't push your car beyond the limit (20 minutes on .. 20 minutes off)
3. Don't use the sidebrake when in the pits (the rotors are hot!)

Do a quick check of your gages on the straight.

Look ahead. Keep your chin up to make it easier on your eyes to look ahead. Watch your corner workers, every one of them, every time by.

Also, if you're really new, it's not a bad idea to get acquainted with the track shifting as little as possible. Try to run most of the track in 1 gear, probably 3rd with an occasional 4th or 2nd depending on the track. This will help you concentrate on hitting your marks consistently and driving really smooth.

Paris, think smooth...drive very smooth....squeeze on the brakes and throttle and do not jab the throttle and brakes. Smooth steering input and just follow the insturctors teachings. Get to know the correct line around the track 1st before you try to go fast. The speed will come as you learn the track and drive smooth.

Flat until you see God, then brake (works for me).

Just don't miss any downshifts, unless you want to pick up pieces of your engine all over the track. Have fun and be safe!
