Holy bloody hell! That car is beautiful!

If Alfa doesn't bring out that 4C to the 'States soon (and Lotus still doesn't do anything with those gorgeous prototypes), this may go on my list.

I can't imagine how much fun this car is going to be.

It is going to be tough trying to wait and see what the Z06 will bring to the table. Anybody ever get buyer's remorse after purchasing a 'base' 'Vette, then trading it in for the Z06?

Yep, it's going to be on my list of cars to select from. For sure... I never have bought an American car. This might indeed be the first time. Imagine, the Boxter is more expensive than this Corvette. More importantly, I think I could just keep my 996TT and have a second fun car without feeling too ostentatious.

Those were my thoughts as well. As good as this car may be, the thought of a better Z06 just around the corner is going to prevent me from diving straight in.

In my experience I would say no. I had an '05 Z51 Corvette, it was a great all around vehicle, it actually made for a great daily driver. Which surprised me. Then I had to see what all the fuss was about with the Z06, it wasn't quite as comfortable, yes it makes more power, handles a bit better and is 100 lbs lighter - not a big deal since the base Corvette only weighed 3,300 curb wt. The Z51 has a targa, which is nice on good weather days, which is not an option for the Z06. I always end up modifying my cars, so if you want more power from the standard Corvette it won't be too difficult to find a reputable tuner to get it to your liking.

That is what "they" say about every new release of any new car ... Case in point the new Porsche GT3 / Turbo. What!??... No manual gear stick shift between the two front seats !! What is the world coming to!

This is the FIRST Corvette I would add to my candidates when I am selecting my next car.

And thats exactly why this will be the best selling Corvette ever. GM realized its core market (baby boomers) were literally dying off. IF they didnt make a car that appealed to the non-traditional crowd then the Corvette brand wouldnt be around too much longer.

They C7 was purposely designed to attract both old school & new school. The old school crowd still gets a lightweight, RWD, smallblock V8 with a manual transmission. The new school crowd gets Asian/European styling, LCD dash & instruments, LED headlight & taillights, much improved interior and up to date technology all throughout the car.

Starting at $52k with C6Z06-like performance.. this car has something to make everyone smile.

Yep, I agree. They have a winner. And, I am also predicting that lots of the converts are going to be Porsche folks... Rebelling against the pricing and option packaging... and more..

I think it looks great as they designed it.
Form and function combined.
Nice job, GM.
I agree! There is this big fuss over having round tail lights? When they look out of place with the rest of the car anyway!!! Its as if people don't want the car to evolve. There are so many silly questions being asked "why 7 gears" "why add a DCT" OMG!!! It drives me crazy!! I just keep my comments to myself knowing the majority of the people that are doing the complaining will see the light sooner or later.

I just did a search on cars.com for a 2014 Cayman S. Add anything and you are north of $70k. My guess is $65k will get you a nice C7 with the Z51 package. My current 11 GTS has dropped half that much off sticker in less tha 2 years. I will be looking at a C7.
