vette does seem amazing but i know how the eventual mag comparos with cayman will end up.
'vette has amazing stats for less money but the cayman is still our driver's choice'
btw, i think a vette loaded to this level of performance will be closer to $75k

I thought the same thing. But it prices out at around $60k. I think it's worth checking out.

"Not bad. Not bad at all, especially considering the car, as tested here, costs just $56,590. It looks like the new 'Vette will continue the name's proud tradition of offering a great bang for your buck."

So comparing these times are not valid.
It was brought to my attention that this time, however, was not done by a Lightning Lap driver from C&D, but rather a factory driver.

People that take 2 minutes to get from 0-35mph, in a 45mph zone, are killing me - reeeeeaally slowly.
While we all want to believe that owning cars that are capable of this much performance, means living life by horns nonstop and pulling all types of G-forces. One of the greatest reasons to own a current generation Corvette is that they make great daily drivers & highway cruisers. Roomy ****pit, plenty of storage in the cargo area and incredible 30+mpg make them a vehicle you can use everyday.. not just a weekend toy. It makes buying one much easier. I currently have 79,000 miles on my 2007.
It also helps that I live in VA. Where radar detectors are illegal. 20mph over the speed limit is reckless driving. And anything over 90mph is mandatory one-day in jail. Do I need mention how strictly this is enforced? You will definitely get pulled over here for tint, no front license plate, outdated registration or inspection. Driving a red sports car.. only makes the attention from LEO's more fun.
All the above means that the vast majority of my driving is sticking pretty close to the speed limit. That said I definitely "drive" her when I get the chance. She definitely does 0-60 as quick as advertised and I've personally verified it goes over 160mph on a few occassions. Whenever the time + money is right.. she will also see a few track days at VIR or Summit Point Main.
Lastly.. if plenty of Vette owners like myself are already seeing 30mpg hwy our C5s & C6s. Expect to see 35mpg from real world highway cruising in the C7. I would think 40mpg would even be possible with using 7th gear and active fuel management (AFM) which lets the car run off just 4 cylinders.
Even if you dont care about mpgs, you have to be absolutely amazed at the engineering from GM. Especially considering this is the same vehicle that will shoot from 0-60 in 3.8 mph and do the 1/4 in 12.0 seconds @ 119 mph. The great MPG also guarantees the already 60 year old Corvette brand.. will be around for many more generations as the EPA continues to tighten fuel economy regulations.
Regardless of price, I cant think of any other sports car that can match that combination of performance & fuel efficiency.
