'08 Viper gets 600hp at $83k

Man, and here we thought that the 600-horse Bentley Continental GT Speed was a bargain at $199K. Dragtimes.com has reportedly obtained the pricing info for the revamped, more powerful 2008 Dodge Viper. The news is good, as The New Chrysler's flagship tire-melter will start at just $83,145 for the Viper SRT10 Roadster. Want the coupe? Pony up a little more: $83,895. Bang-for-the-buck, thy name is Viper.

resale values on 06's are plummetting as we speak.....the increase from 06-08 was 300 bucks or so....now who is going to want an underpowered 03,04,05 or 06 with the 08 putting up these numbers....

glad i sold my last vipe last oct

I think I still like the old body style better, but 600 factory HP is OK in my book!

One of my autocrossing buddies tried a protoytpe of that car at the Chrysler proving grounds and it was FAST and he was amazed it could put down all that power even in 1st gear. What a deal. But I just got my viper 3 days ago so I'm set for a while

I wonder if this will influence Chevy's decision on the price of the new Z07/Blue Devil

I owned 2 previous gen Vipers and one thing I wish they will improve on this one is the handlings.

Could you elaborate on this?

I was under the impression that the viper was an extremely good handling car when on the track, however, it has a steep learning curve. Is this somewhat in line with what you have experienced?
