Oil Change
Car says 30,000kms...dealer told me every spring is fine.
I changed mine at 1000 miles and every 5000 miles or 1 year which ever comes first. I like to do it because its easy and I know the job will be done right. A straight 997 is so simple I didn't even have to jack up the car. I bought a set of Speed Ramps for the turbo (you don't need the standard size for oil changes, use the mini ramp instead and do it on a level surface). The car is supposed to be at operating temp so be careful and wear protective gloves. The exhaust system will be hot too! The turbo is a bit more involved. Go to rennteam for the details and torque settings for the different bolts + oil filter. If your not into getting your hands dirty (nothing wrong with that) ONLY have your Porsche dealer do it.

I'll be doing a UOA on my M1 0W-40 soon to ge tan idea how long I should run my oil.
If you daily drive your car how often should you change the oil? The dealership told me to change it at 22,000 miles, which I thought was kind of odd. I've had to add oil around every 3,000 miles after the oil level drops. This is natural right?

Are both excellent website's on keeping your Porsche running up to spec.
We recommend that the oil be changed every 4-5k during normal use.
If you are doing track days I would recommend every other weekend.
Oil is a cheap way to ensure long term engine life.........
I saw that your in Newport we do regular maintenance and service work.
Feel free to stop by the shop at anytime.
