'09 Turbo Cab = Awesome
'09 Turbo Cab = Awesome
After a few weeks of ownership, I am happy to report that I couldn't be any happier with my recently acquired '09 Turbo Cab. Thanks to all of you on this forum that have educated and inspired me to embrace the awesome nature of the Turbo. I have previously owned both a 996 and a 997.1 S, so I am not a newbie to the world of Porsche, but rather glad to be back in the fold. I most recently owned an Aston Martin Vantage, but I can honestly say that the driving experience with the Turbo blows the Aston away. There is just something special about a car that has gobs of power and superb handling to match. The Porsche Turbo is a master at both.
I should also tell you that I have been bitten quite hard by the 'modding' bug. My first mod was to add a Cargraphic exhaust courtesy of Mike Schalke at Road Sport Supply (RSS). My Turbo's exhaust now sounds like it should have from the beginning. I can't help but grin whenever I am at WOT! :-) Mike is extremely knowledgeable and made my decision to go with Cargraphic an easy one.
Next up, I added some additional carbon fiber pieces for the interior, including a couple that Porsche doesn't offer from the factory (center console shift surround, center storage compartment lid, and seat belt surrounds ). I made my purchases from DB Carbon Interior based in Germany. The company owner, Daniel Balsmeyer, was extremely friendly and uber accommodating. The additional carbon pieces really rounded out the look I was wanting for my interior. The craftsmanship/quality of the finished products is fantastic, which was further supported by very reasonable pricing.
Lastly and most recently, I replaced the stock OEM Turbo wheels with a set of charcoal gray HRE P40's. One word...Sweet! Dan at Vivid Racing was great to work with and helped me find the right wheels for the look I was wanting. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out, as the darker wheels set against the GT Silver color of my car make for a wonderful contrast IMHO. The car looks much more menancing and aggressive, and Dan's guidance couldn't have been better.
The 6speed forum and community have proven to be invaluable assets in assisting me with my various Porsche-related decisions. I'm already looking forward to my next mod, which will most likely be an ECU upgrade. I am trying my best to temper my mod-related spending, but it's indeed a hard thing to resist (as many of you can so easily attest).
Here are a couple of exterior pics that I thought I would share with you.

Thanks to all for your comments! I am absolutely thrilled with the way my car has turned out.
Bruce, in answer to your question, there is the slightest of resonance in my cab around 2K RPM, but nothing that is too intrusive.
Justin, I took some pics of the various carbon pieces I added, but the pics didn't come out too well (blame it on the photographer). I'm going to retake over the weekend and then post them. The pieces look and feel as good as OEM.

I would just throw some springs on it and call it a day
