Clutch Change, Oil leak?

Had my clutch changed a little over 3 weeks ago. I have an oil leak on the floor now. Drove the car the most this past weekend and within 2 days the leak is about 3 feet long.

I cant see where the leak is coming from but, it is dripping from a bracket towards the front of the car (see photo.)

Does anyone know if this related to the recent clutch service? Or, now what gasket needs to be replaced?

I would say it has to be related. It looks like it is leaking right where they separated the tranny from the engine..right at the rear sway bar. Also very near your oil tank...Wonder if they did not kink or puncture it? Or other seals when they separated the tranny.

I would bring it back and have them find the source.

Good luck!

Hey Steve, i do have the GT2slave conversion. Thanks for the tip. I went to check the slave reservoir and there isn't a way to read its level. That sucks.

Installer said that It could be left over Pentosin fluid from the GT2 slave swap. I guess this will also look like dirty engine oil.

Will try to take the car to them during my next available minute that I have during the day.

Turns out that it is the "rear main seal."

"Rear" but yet the front of this car. Dealer will cover the cost of the tranny removal thankfully.

Anyone; should I have them do anything else while it is out? Was thinking to have the Coolant elbows replaced at the same time. I would do the Sharkwerks replacement with them welded in place and not pinned.

(assuming the seals were not fixed correctly when the replaced the tranny from what you describe)

i don't think they'll drop the engine, only slightly lower it. The engine needs to be completely dropped to access those coolant elbows from what i understand.

Exactly, that's why I am thinking that its time to do some preventative maintenance at that time. Was thinking the elbows and the plugs.

Didn't think there was an issue with the 997 RMS. Or was this a direct issue with the clutch re&re?

Jako, are you talking about the 2008 version for the coolant elbows?

I haven't seen to many failures in 2008 vrs 2007. Maybe Porsche changed the idiot glue on the fitting. I doubt it though.

Maybe some other members can ahead some light on it though..

Nope. The OP mentioned that the leak was due to the RMS.
