I was driving the car, hard of course, and the cooliant sensor went off. At first I was worried but then watched the gauge. Then the temp spiked pulled over and water was steaming and cooliant leaking on the ground. It seems that the water pump might be cracked. All the hoses look good but where the water spray and stains are they need to drop the engine to further figure the issue and fix the problem.
So a little bit of pain for the repairs but a whole a lot of fund for mods.

It is unlikely that your water pump is bad. Most likely you have a coolant fitting that pulled out. Common unfortunately.
If engine is coming down you should do basic maintenance. Replace the fuel filter, change the plugs, pin the coolant pipes or get the aluminum ones and have them TIG'd in place (like I am sure you are doing since the motor is coming out for this). Should consider replacing the water pump. Fun stuff would include injectors so you can run an E85 tune in the future. If you want to do that, you'll need a clutch which is easy with the motor and trans out of the car. Finally, you could think about doing turbo inlet pipes, but they are very expensive and not worth it unless you are changing turbos (or going absolutely all out on the stockers) as well.
Another mod that will serve you will with your .1 turbo is upgrading to the .2 intercoolers. They are a fraction of the price of the aftermarket units and nobody has proven with actual data that they are worth 2,3, 4x the price of the OEM units.

Here is your opportunity to change the injectors!!! Have you had it mapped? If not, injectors, mapping and perhaps inlet pipes. I.C., plenum, Y-tube, throttle body can be done with engine installed.
I second A418, most likely the coolant fitting just came out. Plenty of threads on that here. Don't put motor back in without addressing that. I has same issue and I had mine pinned. All is well now.
