Keep reading about dead batteries, and lack of access to frunk

Hey, I actually got to use the word "frunk!"

Anyway, I keep reading multiple threads where the battery discharges and owners don't have access to the frunk and have other issues trying to get some juice from trickle chargers through the cig lighter or the pull out red tab in the fuse panel.

Well, this is what solved my problem after a bout or two with it. The CTEK battery tender has a neat little adapter that connects directly to the battery, and has a lead that can thread up right under the top of the hood. It has a nice little cap on it to prevent corrosion, and I love the fact that I can put the charger on from the outside without popping the hood. When not in use, it tucks neatly under the hood and is not visible.

Curious what you had to do. As you see in the lower right of the picture, that adapter connects to both battery terminals and has plenty of reach to make it out from under the hood between the wipers.

Battery Tenders (By Deltran) have long been considered the best in the industry.

They run roughly $35. I have a couple.

They all come with hard-wired leads like the OP mentions.

Here's the standard model showing the HW lead in the front left.

And the waterproof version.

The Deltran works too, but I like the construction and results I have had with the CTEK better. JMHO and experience. Thought I would pass it along.

Absolutely terrible communication from Deltran for my Battery Tender Plus.

I've used Battery Tender Plus (as in post above) on my 997.1TT for yrs- noticed white spots on floor under front of car- emailed cust svc wondering if tender unit was bad or if it was my battery- Deltran had me go thru some testing-was told Tender output was low - said it was under warranty, gave me RMA, said to send it to them at my cost-
i inquired after hearing nothing for few weeks- got email saying unit was fine & asking for CC # to return it to me. I asked if they would return it at their cost- Next day receive another email saying my unit was not repairable asking if they should return it at their cost of just trash it.
I followed up with my confusion over their conflicting info- asking if my unit was working or not. If working, return it at their cost, if it was broken to send another or repair-since it was still under warranty. I got no response, followed up again. It's been weeks -have received no response or my unit back-

Bought a Ctek 7200 & all is perfect. Never again will i buy Deltran product.

Still no communication from Deltran but wanted to update this because today i did receive my battery tender plus back from Deltran- no note or anything but assume its repaired

I use their cigarette lighter adaptor and it works marvelously! no extra wires and easy access.

One thing to note,... if your battery gets low,.. none of thee can properly charge it. Even if you leave it on for a month.

In fact standard 6-10 amp chargers woon't either.

You need a special high-powered charger to properly charge a large AGM battery.

i have this one. http://www.batterychargers.com/sc-10030a/

Computer controlled,.. and it will ramp up to as high as 30 amps in it's cycle. And can output 100 amps for a bit to get something started. It has a fan which is loud though,.. and never shuts off.

It has a display that shows the voltage or the % of charge. It can also be used to test alternators.

I run it for a cycle if the car is low,.. or for a new battery. After that I put a trickle charger on the car.
