I've done a fair bit of reading through previous forum posts and believe the general consensus is that the Sachs 2.5 combo consisting of the 883082999764 pressure plate and 881864001098 disc is good for vehicles that are driven regularly, but I wanted to throw this post out to confirm that. I have a 2007 TT with a Speedtech exhaust, Cobb Stage 2 OTS tune for now, and Torque Solutions intake tubes. I can see the possibility of upgraded IC's, a Y-pipe, and GT3 throttle body in the future, but probably not much more than that.
I'm interested to hear from those that have driven the aforementioned Sachs 2.5 combo on a daily basis as to what difference was noticed.
Get the 764 PP with the OEM unsprung GT2 disc and it will hold very well and drive perfectly. In addition, I much prefer the GT2 non assisted conversion, as well, as it enables very precise clutch modulation.
764 pressure plate with this disc and dual mass flywheel is what I would recommend....I believe this is the Sachs Race Engineering Departments version of the 501 with a slightly more aggressive material....I think either the 501 or the one pictured would be fine.
I'm using this exactly combo ( 881864001098 - 883082999764 ) and its awesome, the feel is OEM like..
My car has stage 2 custom map by Sam and the clutch holds fine. You wont regret.
The 764 PP is the important part. Any of the OEM discs with that motorsports pressure plate results in much more capacity and an experience as close to stock as I’ve ever experienced in an upgraded clutch vehicle. It’s slightly heavier was all I initially noticed, but anybody else having not driven the car would think it’s OEM.
Ok so who can weigh in on the pros and cons of the GT2 clutch vs. the SME 2.5 x098 clutch with a x764 pressure plate?
Do both drive similarly? Do both hold the same amount of power? Do both have similar NVH?
Thanks in advance
With the 764pp you won't be able to tell the discs apart. The sre kit is cheaper and holds more power to me it just makes sense to get the kit vs try to mix and match.
You can mix and match between the gt2 oem and are disc it'll work fine with the 764pp
