Window Auto Drop Works - Up, Not So Much
Window Auto Drop Works - Up, Not So Much
I recently replaced the battery on my 2007 V8 Vantage as it was 8 years old and down to 12.2 volts with the car off. I followed the memory reset instructions for both windows, and the (US) driver's side works as it should. The passenger side will auto drop as it should, but will stay down after closing the door. I've pulled fuses and run the reset, I've disconnected the battery and run the reset, I've hit the battery disconnect and run the reset, all with no change. Any guidance from those that may have experienced this issue would be more than welcome.
If you push on the exterior handle to pop out the handle blade without opening the door and then letting the handle go back to flush does the window go up? How about if you push in on the door at the trailing edge to close it tighter to the body?
The push/pull cable tubes inside the door can break and foul up the normal operation of the window. Also, the microswitches in the door latch can go bad so the door module can't properly sense when the door is closed.
My passenger door had symptoms like this and I ended up replacing the door control modules, and the push/pull cables for the outer door handle and key lock. Ultimately it was the cables that resolved my window drop issue.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried both the handle and trailing edge of the door suggestions with no change. Of note, auto up worked without issue prior to the battery change. That doesn't mean it couldn't be a coincidence, but it seems unlikely that something inside the door has broken.
its quirky for sure
You had an issue with auto drop being functional, but not auto up? I have tried resetting multiple times, and the driver's side works as it should. I'm not opposed to trying again.
I think the issue was both down and up didn't work. When I changed my battery one side (right side) was restored with one . reset and the left side was multiple times.

Bringing this back to the top as the weather is gorgeous and it's driving season. I'm still dealing with this issue. I've pulled the battery out and left it overnight, calibrated the window, and the issue remains. Auto drop works and auto up does not, on the passenger side. Any other ideas? I'd prefer not to take it to the dealership if I can avoid it given labor and parts costs.
I had another similar issue and ended up up doing two things... first try to disconnect both battery leads to the battery and then hold them together for about 60 seconds or so... then reconnect. this will help clear any residual power left in modules...
I noticed that my glass was out of alignment and took off the door card and adjusted my glass... it was bumping on the front and wouldn't let thy glass even try to reach is limits.
good luck
