Any consciences?

I have a 2007 Vantage and am ready to do a couple mods. I've read all of the posts and wonder what options I have and if there is a commonality of opinion here.

MOD#1: Lower the car

MOD#2: Exhaust or at least mechanically keep valve open.

MOD#3: A little more power or less weight would be nice.

I have an Elise that I do most track days with but like to take the Vantage out a few times a year. Mostly a street car but it still could use a little tweaking in my opinion.

Thanks.

that sounds good...

H&R Makes some springs for your car...

Id probably go with a quicksilver exhaust...

And top it off with some HRE P40s

Thanks guys. Best place to get HR's and exhaust is RSC?

HREp40's are nice, don't get me wrong, but they aren't my style.

If I go with the HR's should I change shocks or are they coil overs? What about new bars?

Strearnsn - BTW I currently have my stock exhaust mech. open ... I have found you loose a small amount of torque at the lower revs ... have not seen torque curves from aftermarket companies (esp. Quicksilver) to see if they have solved this w/o flaps. Since you play on the track I thought you might like to know. Most folks do not seem to notice or do not car as they are just on the street catching looks.

#4 - 200 cell cats (might be a nice thought too w/ exhaust)
Also - HZ at Cargraphic in Miami is modding his V8V on this path - waiting to see what he is using and how it works out ...

Michael,

Did you get rid of your 996TT? I sold mine last year.

How did you open the valve?

I got info from Prodrive, they have the upgrades I am looking for but the cost is pretty steep. Suspension is $11K and ECU/Exhaust upgrade is over $12K.

Dealer opened the valve - takes like 5 min (or less). Simple tie open - I do not have the details but must be very easy. Do not pull fuse 22 as some say it can cause a dash light to remain ON and possibly confuse fuel mixture - but effect (pulling fuse) is pretty much the same as far as sound w/ exhaust goes.

I think RSC offers H&R springs for about $700 (install may be around 10 hours but I have not confirmed) which certainly will lower the car and are "progressive" to help handling - Quicksilver exhaust is between $2500-$3000 depending on "sale" cost (install is very straight forward, say an hour, maybe 2 to remove old and have a beer). Total is probably less than $5k.

What is Prodrive offering for $11k ???

Might want to read up on N24 - I believe the suspension difference is different springs and a slightly larger rear sway bar - which might possibly be the rear bar from the convertible (hmmm) ? AND N24 is suppossed to be nice ... I think we can do the same for a lot less money .... I sure did on my P-cars !!!

Yes sold my modded 2003 996tt last year ... then bought the Vantage .... big move as a I have been a P-car nut for decades ...

I have been a Porsche guy since the early 80's. Sold my beloved 993 and got on the waiting list for the 996TT and Vantage. They came in at about the same time and I was really disappointed in the overall quality of the 996TT. Cheap plastic parts don't belong on something I spent over $135K for. The fit and finish on the Vantage only made things worse. So I now enjoy the Vantage and a supercharged Elise.

The Prodrive suspension is driver adjustable but I would leave it in the stiffest mode most times anyway. Did you ever not have the button pushed on the Turbo?

I have read about Paramount and their product in UK also. I have posted several times on various sites but do not know of anyone over here that has their exhaust system and users in UK are not much help either. Paramount certainly seems legit - I was just hoping to find someone that has purchased their products and could give some opinions ....

BTW - Paramount uses "Milltek" brand exhaust & 200 cell cats. Milltek advertises in most Brit car magazines.
