Clutch life thread

Just tested my car. I'd say that the clutch catches at around or just before the half way point. In other words, I release the clutch pedal about 3-4 inches before it catches. I spoke with an AM advisor and he stated that this is normal. According to him, one of the first signs that a clutch may need to be replaced is the amount of effort required when you press down on the clutch pedal. If it feels harder and stiffer, then a clutch is nearing the end of its life.
He also said that he has seen clutches go as long as 30K miles before needing to be replaced....it just depends on the driver.
