Help with vantage

Hi guys,

I'm new to this forum... I'm looking for my dream car, an AMV8, and found a 2006 Vantage in Vegas - 2006 black on black with ~1500 miles, nav, supposedly pristine condition. They're wanting 78k.

Do you think this would be a good deal at 73.5k? Anyone in Las Vegas who can look at the car for me and tell me what you think?

Thanks

73.5 would be a good deal. The lowest I could bargain down was a 07 with low miles to 76.

The only thing I would worry about is the extreme low milage and being out of warranty.

So I talked to the salesman....he said the only defect with the car is 2 dimples on the underside of the trunk that the previous owner was unaware of. Anyone aware of this factory defect?

Also, how much would it cost to get an extended warranty from AM, ballpark?

Check the carfax on it. I wonder why the mileage is so low but again it's not uncommon for Aston owners to have 4-5 other cars. The price at 73.5K is not bad. I'm not sure if the dealer will let you purchase extended warranty since the original warranty has expired but I heard that it is about $4500-5000 for 2 years ext warranty. I imagine inspection fees probably run around $500-800 before they issue the warranty. I'm not sure if 3rd parties will sell you extended warranties for an Aston. I personally don't feel comfortable buying a car out of warranty if I can't test drive it. Perhaps you should fly to Vegas once you have the price settled and put a small deposit. Then test drive before you hand the cashier's check over.

Thanks for the great advice -- I think I will fly there to test drive it before handing over the final cashiers check

this is the link to the car:

If I was going to buy an Aston out of warranty, I would have them take it to the Aston dealer and have it checked out. Tell the dealer that you want to purchase the extended warranty on the car. When you do that, they do a pretty extensive checklist to make sure that the car is ok- I heard it cost around 500 bucks.

Thats a good looking car...If you do get it you might want to give her a nice wax...It looks like she could use one from the pictures.

Yes, this was a pretty common issue with the earlier V8V's. It has something to do with the glue between the trunk and the liner.....it causes it to dimple in towards the glue. I believe this is fixed by cutting the glue.

One thing to remember as well.....these cars seem better off when driven. They do not like to sit. I put 1200 miles on mine in a couple months and have zero issues. I may be a little concerned with only 1200 in 5 years. I would have the seller cover the cost of an AM inspection, then you should buy the extended warranty. If the seller is truly motivated and you say "pass the inspection on your dime and I will buy", they should do it.
