V12 Teaser
By the way, what kind of tires do you have on your car Tahoe? The P0's on mine were made specifically to be "sticky" under the right conditions. I wonder if there are options that are ready to go at cooler temps. This is the first time that I have traction issues in a car. then again I have never owned a car like this before.
Back out today. I spent about 1 hr driving from Villanova to Delaware to Philadelphia and back. Traffic sucks this time of year and there are a lot of areas in the shade that are a little slick that make for some tricky moments. I am already looking forward to spring. I'm starting to get a hang of the gearing and timing with shifts. I keep forgetting to hit the sport button which turns the car from powerful to crazy. I had traction issues in 1st and 2nd today. I will reserve judgement for spring when the tires are warmer earlier. There really is no lack of power in any circumstance. I can't imagine having more power than this. Maybe all wheel drive would change the power translation. Having said that, I really don't know where I would need more speed other than a track. I hear a lot of complaints about AM's acceleration in respect to other cars. I have a feeling that most of this criticism is waged from articles on paper. Before anyone lays criticism on Aston Martin for speed, drive this car. When a small car has immense power coming to the rear wheels, the numbers may lie based on the ability to launch and gain traction. On a track, under the right circumstances, the performance will be much more consistent with the AWD cars from Porsche and Lambo. Then again driving it more on the road than the track, I really appreciate the finish and comfort that this car offers in comparison to the cars that outperform it on paper.
Here's a great V12 Vantage video by Aston Martin! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=9Qe-wE0ZsTY
I'm curious how difficult it will be for someone like RSC to tune the ECU on the V12 to gain 40 HP and get 550 from the V12 Vantage. There may not be enough demand. Stuart, care to weigh in?
I think that figure is reachable. Having said that, this car is crazy powerful now. In fact, with the sport button depressed traction is an issue from the get. I can't imagine the tire spin with 550HP. I think any HP increase will definitely necessitate more rubber. In fact, I would probably consider larger tires right now at OEM. When I drove the car at the race track the grip was amazing. I wonder if there is a better set up for every day street use. I can't always warm the tires up for 15 mins before I get the chance to let her go especially now that the weather has chilled. Does anyone have an recommendations? I wonder how 305-315 street tires would perform from day to day. Maybe some P2 pilots. Does any one have any advice. I know that once it gets warm out, the tries will be like fly paper. I just don't feel like waiting.
I have the DBS wheels (front: 8.5’’ x 20’’ Pirelli P Zero 245/35 and rear: 11’’ x 20’’ Pirelli P Zero 295/30) on my V8 Vantage. They fit perfectly in the wheel wells and look great. I love the 19" V12 Vantage design and wish they were available in 20" as that size really looks better on the car. Plus, you get some more aggressive rubber. Do you think that option would solve the problem, Tahoe?
