Looking to purchase and need some help

I am new to AM and would appreciate any insights. I have been a porsche and AMG guy and want to change it up. Really like the Vantage and I am wondering what price points I should be looking at for 07. I also would like to know how much actual value the extended service contract adds. TIA

You will generally see prices for an '07 ranging from $70k to $80k. Color, options, condition, mileage, etc. are all factors. I think the AM extended service contract is of extreme value as it extends the factory warranty with the exception of the Satnav. I purchased it last year for around $5500 for 2 years. Of course I have not had any warranty work needed but nice to know it is there if I need it.

Thanks. Mileage wise I am concerned about what is too much and I have seen the various debates here. I will use the car as DD but I only drive about 10 miles a day. I also will only keep it for around 6-9 months because that is usually when I change out cars. I have chance to buy 07 MT with upgraded exhaust done by dealer and 2 year service contract with the good options. It has 18k mile but i can pick it up for 66k I know high miles but wondering about the price.

And the '08 Vantage is also in the $70-80K region. The big change came in '09 with the engine going from 4.3L--->4.7L and the HP going from 380--->420. Also for '09 there was a re-do of the controls on the dash. About the only change between '07 and '08 was the addition of cup-holders in the '08. $5,500 is well spent for the peace of mind it will give you.

$66K is an excellent price, especially with the 2-year warranty (worth about $5,500). I wouldn't be concerned at all with the 18,000 miles especially at that price and with the warranty. If you plan to sell the car in about a year, you would like to have the warranty be transferable--that would certainly enhance it's value when you sell. Even if the Vantage you are looking at has no options, that's a fair price. And every option it has: Heated Seats, HID lights, Cruise Control, etc., just adds to it's value. To give you an idea, my '08 Vantage had $16,500 of factory options.

I agree $66K is a great price from a dealer. Personally, I wouldn't go for the service contract unless you're extremely risk-averse. On average, extended warranties pay out maybe 50% of what they take in, so your chances of coming out ahead are slim.

18k miles is not a lot for this engine at all. in fact, I think I'd buy an 07 with 18k miles more readily than one with 5k miles.
