Awesome,

Thx for the info RMD! Trying to reschedule another time hopefully next week. Soon after tune the high flow cats and retune are coming... After that not sure yet but going to see where the car sits after the cats & stage 2 V2 tune.

Have there been any upgrades made to the heads, intake or anything mechanical? If not, are there any plans in the near future to reworking any of these parts to gain even more power?

Hey Art,

I do have a lot of plans, but honestly until you have done high flow cats, Headers, stage 3 tune there is really no point to be modifying anything else. Those three combine count for roughly 80% of all the possible NA gains on this motor. Furthermore, until you are starting to flow a serious amount of air through this motor do you really need to start addressing anything on the intake side of the motor (if at all). Most of the restriction in the stock car are on the exhaust and ECU tune side of things. The intakes on our cars are actually fantastic and flow more than well enough (especially on the 4.3Ls).

The biggest unknown is what rpms this motor can really handle. Because they are designed to pass the 100hour endurance reliability test set by ford, I think Cosworth had to change some things on the car last minute. The best way to make a motor last that 100hour torture test is two simple strategies... Add a TON of rotating mass, and lower Rev Limiter a lot. I think Cosworth designed the engine to originally handle 8k based on the cams, but there is no way they could get it to pass the 100hour test at 8000rpm, so they just lowered the rpms to 7200-7300. It's also why our cars at redline feel like they are barely trying, it's all that added weight.

The downside to that is it kills performance. If you were to run better balanced lighter rotating parts you could easily run the motor. The only real limitation left is the valve springs and hydraulic lifters. But that's a conversation for another time.

Trying to get the soonest possible dyno session in to see what she can do fully unlocked.

More to come soon...

I have the euro charged tuning device on my table. Just arrived today. I am wanting to see what they do to yours and then tune mine.

They send what looks like a old PDA and a laptop. They have you call them, and they walk you thru the process. It's real simple.. you plug into the obd port and do what the PDA tells you to do. Then they log onto the computer they sent you and they download the file you took off the car. After they get the file they work on it and send it back. Then you hook the pda back to the computer and the reload the file and you go back to the car and load it back on the ECU thru the OBD port... fairly easy.. not sure how much it has helped as the weather is bad here and all I had a chance to do was start the car after to make sure the file was transferred completely. Looking forward to it though.

Thanks. Sounds simple. Do you have to return the PDA and laptop?
